Open Thread: Newt got better

Saturday, January 21st, 2012

After opening the week behind Mitt Romney according to the polls of South Carolina voters, Fox News’ Juan Williams, ABC News/ex-wife Number Two, and CNN’s John King gave Newt Gingrich a shot in the arm. Gingrich pulled out a big win in the South Carolina primary tonight.

I won’t spend a lot of time on this. We’ll be digesting it. Some of us are happy. Some of us are appalled. Some of us, well, we’re just entertained.

Frank will have lots to say about this, probably Monday, based on his Twitter feed. But, for now, I’m going to follow IMAO commenter Jimmy’s suggestion and open this up for comments.

Yes, it’s Saturday night. There could be some things said in the heat of liquor that need to be corrected tomorrow. But, for now, it’s an open thread.

What do YOU think about the primary results? Or the races ahead?

Lame bin Laden joke open thread

Thursday, May 5th, 2011

Some got it, but some missed the joke in the bin Laden after-death photo post.

I don’t blame those that didn’t get it. It’s lame. And not well-done.

Then, again, you saw my name at the top, so what do you expect. Unless you’re reading the mobile version on your iPhone or Blackberry or Droid or something, in which case my name’s at the bottom.

Anyway, it was lame. But some got it.

If you didn’t, Bix Dugan explains it in the comments:

Get it? He’s being eaten by fish. These are the jokes, folks.

The other thing. One lame joke deserves another.

And that was the other purpose of the post. Lame bin Laden jokes. xxyzx accepted that unstated invitation, as did Rick.

So, here it is officially and explicitly stated: Those lame bin Laden jokes you’ve been wanting to share? Go ahead. It’s okay. Watch the language, though. The boss might be reading.

I’ll start:

A Navy SEAL walks into a bar and orders a Bin Laden.

“What’s a Bin Laden,” the bartender asks.

The SEAL replies, “Two shots and a splash of water.”

Okay, your turn. And keep it clean. Or, PG-13, at least.

Here’s your syrup and chicken feather

Thursday, April 14th, 2011

Since Frank is away and I have a job and Harvey is working and Space Monkey is, well, Space Monkey…

What’s an IMAO reader to do?

Well, a long time ago, you could keep an infant entertained by putting a dab of syrup on his fingers and give him a chicken feather. Of course, it helped to have chickens. And syrup.

But this isn’t Georgia of some years back. It’s 2001 or something.

However, the kids do need entertaining. I gotta pack the iPad away and go back to work since lunchtime is over. So, I offer the blogging equivalent of syrup and chicken feathers.

That’s right! Open Thread!

Share your random thoughts. Plug something. Tell jokes. Just keep it clean. At least, what passes for clean around here.

Nothing to see here, move along. But you might want to look at these…

Saturday, March 20th, 2010

Frank J and SarahK are busy picking baby names. Wife and I are at the beach. Harvey is … well, Harvey. I don’t know what he’s doing.

There may or may not be updates here this weekend. But there has been other stuff going on in IMAO-land elsewhere this week.

Frank J

He’s trapped into watching New Moon with SarahK.

If he doesn’t post something here, he’s probably on teh Twitter.

SarahK

She offers a behind-the-scenes look at pregnancy news at her house.

And she plans to be a different kind of mom and blogger. She wants more suggestions of promises to make. But I think you ought to just laugh at her for thinking she’s going to keep those she made. Silly SarahK!

[I will, at the very least, keep promise #2. -- SK]

She be on teh Twitter, too.

Harvey

Everyone’s favorite a) invisible rabbit; b) funny uncle; has an appreciation of … curves. But we knew that already, didn’t we. And some of us share that appreciation.

Harvey don’t Twitter. You’ll have to see Harvey in person.

Basil

I’m channeling General Admiral Ackbar. This health care thing is a trap.

And I’m on teh Twitter, too.

So go visit. Leave your thoughts. Or share stuff here. Or just make stuff up. That’s always good, too.
