Sarah Palin on SNL

Ace thought they slammed her, but the jokes from the Tina Fey Palin seemed less pointed this time (I loved her answer about are some parts of the country unAmerican). Allahpundit was negative about it to, but he’s negative about everything. While it does seem Palin wasn’t given much to do, I think it was a net plus for her just to be there not looking awkward at all and being in on the jokes. It should help blunt any parody of her in the future.

And I thought the rap was pretty funny.

UPDATE:

Highest ratings for SNL in fourteen years.

  1. I would have to say much better than not awkward. Here is my list of salient points

-1- First and foremost she made Tina Fey look ugly. I guess Tina is not that beautiful but Sarah was quite photogenic. Most important part is how that knocks SNL down off their high horse a bit. It made me notice they are ALL pretty weird looking except for Daryl Hammond.

-2- You could see she was there to face them down yet she had supreme cool and was in addition funny. Not afraid of confrontation by any stretch. Something important in a president ( I think McPain will lose and she will beat the pants off B.O. in 2012 ).

-3- a natural performer that can do alot with a few lines. I could feel her saying “You guys are all fools and I’m taking it in now so you better watch out in 2012 when i am not on a self imposed leash that simple minded McCain handlers use on her. I sense she’s the ultimate team player. For that reason shes team playing with Mac calling the shots. Just wait till she’s calling the shots.

-4- The “BILLY favorite Baldwin” joke was a good way of saying that all 4 Baldwin brothers put together have the total IQ of a severely retarded person. The linked article in my blog maps Hollywood IQ’s to those of normal Americans. You will see Alec Baldwin maps to a 0 – A gifted strawberry poptart.

Look out cause she is not going away. She is determined and she remembers. This is her national politics education and I do think when she’s the head of the ticket you are going to see what she’s holding back off of her swing right now because of the ever cautious inside play charted by McCain and Company.

  2. I thought the rap was pretty funny, who doesn’t enjoy a mock moose hunt. SNL actually had some good jokes this time, Tina Palin I thought wasn’t that funny at all though. Its a nice surprise considering SNL’s political stuff is normally stupid and seems to have an agenda. I forgot SNL could make people laugh, well at least chuckle.

  4. SNL knew this would be the most watched episode in years, yet still couldn’t come up with one funny joke. This show hasn’t been funny in years.

When I first heard about this, I had heard that Sarah had wanted to turn the tables and go on the show to play Tina Fey – that would have been much funnier, especially if her cameo had not been announced ahead of time and she had simply appeared as Fey.

With all that said, knowing that Tina Fey is a hateful liberal who despises Sarah Palin, and not simply a comedian performing a character, none of what they do strikes me as humorous…just hateful.

  5. Yeah SOB ( son of bob LOL ) they are hateful. That is because they are essentially paid liars. Remember the bad guy character Sarris from GALAXY QUEST ? His money quote about actors from the movie is

“YOU HAVE DONE MORE DAMAGE THAN i COULD EVERY HOPE TO DO”

I hope soon that society will return to treating musicians and actors as the fools they are. In the middle ages royal courts treated them as low paid help and did not deign it proper to respect them. While I do not support a return to monarchy this particular position sounds completely warranted.

  6. One thing is overwhelmingly clear from this and the McCain/Letterman bit.

Conservatives who have been wronged are gracious and will go out of their way to be nice to them.
Liberals who are a-holes, when they see a Republican being nice to them, just become bigger a-holes.

I just heard part of an Obama speech a bit ago on the news. He’s basically in opposite day on pretty much everything. There wasn’t much he accused McCain of that wasn’t A) completely the opposite of the facts and B) more applicable to either himself or the NY Times, or both.

Speaking of how liberals are in permanent Opposite Day mode… oldie but goodie that needs repeating:

  7. Yeah, I noticed the llama – I remembered they used a donkey for the Mark whatzizname sketch later (which in the context of the Sarah Palin bit, was actually pretty good).

I’m surprised in 19 posts no one has said, “you are worthwess Awic Bowdwin”.
