Sarah Palin Wonders if Rick Sanchez is a Journalist

JUNEAU (AP) – After CNN reporter Rick Sanchez questioned whether Sarah Palin’s decision to resign as Governor of Alaska came about because she was pregnant, Palin held a press conference of her own to wonder whether Rick Sanchez was a journalist.

Guilty of disseminating fact-based informational summaries through televised media?

“There might be a couple of other situations that might cause someone to broadcast idle speculation on a national television program,” said Palin. “He might be a sleazy tabloid paparazzi, he might be a conscienceless DNC shill with a black and shriveled soul, or maybe he’s just a sterno-swilling homeless person who has long since lost the fight against the insane and angry voices in his head. But aside from those, is there anything going on with him that perhaps may lead him to want to make this decision? And the one thing that’s still left out there is… hey, could Rick Sanchez be a journalist?”

CNN quickly denied the charge, calling it “outrageous” and “baseless speculation”.

“I’ve certainly seen no evidence of any ‘journalism’ on the part of Rick Sanchez,” said CNN spokesperson Carol Foyler. “Certainly it’s physically possible, given Sanchez’s age, gender, and pretty frat-boy face which – were he to go to prison – would get him passed around like a joint at a Phish concert, but anyone who listened to him for 5 seconds would know he’s not a journalist. I challenge ANYONE to come up with a single shred of evidence that there has EVER been a single instance of journalism from Sanchez, or anyone else at CNN, for that matter.”

“Sarah Palin has obviously crossed the line with her utterly unfounded accusation,” said Foyler, “and if she has even a ounce of human decency, she will apologize immediately. ‘Journalist’, indeed!”

  1. Call me what you like, but I think Palin is waaaaaaaay off base, here. There is no possibility in this or any other parallel world that Rick Sanchez is anything even remotely approaching a journalist. She should apologize. I’m going with homeless person.

  2. Isn’t he the ShamWow guy? Seriously though, who has CNN unblocked on their TV. And how does a guy whiter than Michael Jacksons’ corpse get the name Sanchez? We don’t need no stinkin’ complexions!

  3. “I’ve certainly seen no evidence of any ‘journalism’ on the part of Rick Sanchez,” said CNN spokesperson Carol Foyler. “

Miracle alert: First time I can truly believe CNN.

  4. Journalist: one who keeps/writes a journal; a writer/editor for a news medium.>>>”I challenge ANYONE to come up with a single shred of evidence that there has EVER been a single instance of journalism from Sanchez…”>>>I smell a frivolous Slap Suit coming.

  5. Hey #8, I’m a Palin fan but IMHO every politician’s person’s genitals should be off the table and stay in the bedroom. Besides, Sarah has a stronger backbone and larger ballz than do most of her male counterparts. 😉

  6. This is obviously a joke? I wonder where all you whiners trailing the quitter/whiner in chief and soon to be ex-governor of Alaska where during the 1990s when Bill Clinton was the subject of one investigation after another by the GOP. All of which cost taxpayers millions and netted nothing.

Sarah Palin is a talented politician, albeit raw, but this strange war against the media show immaturity, lack of context to what Americans (outside of RW blogs) care about, and a complete lack of understanding on what the free press does. If President Obama took Sarah’s same strategy against the media, he’d be calling press conferences every 5 minutes to address false claims and slanderous behavior on Fox “stuffed with partisan panders” News.

Flame away of course, and build up your army of straw men to tear me and my “liberal mind” down. How ridiculous.

  7. When she accepted the VP nomination, she knew she needed to bring her professional game up to another level, she never did. She knew that her family would get attacked as did Hilary and Chelsea before her (by even her twin maverick brother McCain in 1998), let face it she knew her family affairs would come out. But now she plays the victim card again, a card she played after those comical first extended interviews that we all enjoyed and SNL immortalized. But for the icing on the cake, she quits, because she does not want to be a lame duck governor, because the lawsuits keep coming, because it was the media’s fault, because seeing Russia from her house finally got to her, because its not fair that Alaskan’s paid her salary while she was running for the VP position, take your pick. So what does she tells us? Dear Mr. President, when things get tough, quit. Dear military men and women, if you are not having fun, quit. Dear son or daughter, if things are not going your way, quit. Sure, I agree when she first was introduced and gave a descent speech, sure the polls went up, but after the extended interviews, they went where they ended, down. She showed her true character, I real hope the book deal, Radio/ TV shows and the lecture circuits make up for what her party has lost by her actions. She may go down in history as the quitter that twittered.

  8. Thor says: I don’t think he spends *any* time thinking of *anyone’s* vagina. He’s more of a sausage king, methinks

He’s the cheif fudge packer at the fudge factory.

  9. This story is actually true and occurred right after Carrie Prejean asked Barny Frank to marry her. His answer was tthhhppppthh thhupppth tthhhhuuthhhh for those inquiring minds (at CNN).

13 14 & 15 …… That reminds me of Jim Boutons (?) book Ball Four, when he tells of Yogi Berra naked at the post game meals served buffet style in the locker rooms. A seminal work of literature was Ball Four.

  10. I lived in Fort Lauderdale when Rick Sanchez was a reporter for Miami’s Channel 7 before he went to CNN.
It was the “National Enquirer” of the airwaves at the time, always at every car crash and murder in the area.
A sleazier bunch of ambulance chasers never existed; so, no, he was never a REAL reporter….

  11. Wasn’t Sanchez the one who had the hit and run drunk driving “incident” in Florida when he was not reporting there? I think he is atypical of the “journalist” that appears everyday on SRM. They can read prompter, and they look ok.

  12. 14 & 16 – The point of this piece is that self-respecting professional journalists don’t speculate in the absence of evidence.

Sanchez did, and therefore he’s not.

I’m not either, but I don’t work for CNN, an organization which – in theory – should only be hiring those who are.

  13. You guys are too much, thanks for the laughs! I guess you don’t know what Bill O’Reilly, Sean Hannity, and Glenn Beck do all day. Boo, hoo, hoo they speculate. Let me ask who would you chose to get a surgery from a person who worked hard and received an Ivy League education, or one who does not care about education (especially science) and drifts and somehow manages to get a degree. She showed her true character, by quitting (cut and run) just like her college years. She couldn’t even give a decent exit speech (her railings against the media was sweet until she did an about face and ask them to go on a fishing trip with her to clarify her “Rambling Rose” comments). She was right for Alaska (with a population of less than 700,000), and her education matches it (journalism degree from the University of Idaho in 1987). But if you think anyone who wants to get our country back on track after the fiasco of the last administration with our economy and the fabrication of two wars then you along with the empty party are completely lost (are you surprise about the election results?). For the previous eight years we put up with a dullard president, but no more, you may try in 2012 but our eyes are open. I have heard that Republicans lost because God was against them, I can only say look at the candidates the Republicans put forward on their national ticket and don’t make the same mistake again. Mavericks, please, more like flash over substance (she quit and he fumbled) and the majority of voters saw it. We both know that she is cashing out, book deal, a show (Radio/TV), speaking engagements, she will keep stringing her followers along as long as she keeps the possibility open for running in 2012.
