The IMAO 2010 Election Post **UPDATED 0129** **BUMPED**

UPDATE 0129:

Yeah. Me go sleepy now. Have thoughts in morning as too sleepy for thoughts now. The
NYTimes shows 57+ solid gains right now in the House with many still left to be called. That’s a refudiation.

So what next?

UPDATE 0115:

Had to correct my post as I realized there is no such thing as 24 o’clock.

Might head to bed soon. Doubtful we’ll learn much on Alaska quickly (write-in currently leads!), but I wanted to at least see what happened with my own district (ID-1). Can voting the right way on everything except Pelosi as speaker save a Democrat? Well, Minnick is behind by 8 right now with 21% reporting.

Anyway, a good night for Republicans… with hopefully some lessons learned about electability.

UPDATE 0031:

FOX News is calling it that Harry Reid has won reelection — the one thing that could ruin my evening. It should actually help the GOP in the 2012, but man that sucks that decrepit weirdo is still going to be leading the majority in the Senate.

UPDATE 0010:

Apparently, Etheridge hasn’t conceded, but the votes may not be close enough for a recount.

Anyone know if he supports the Obama agenda? Someone should ask him.

UPDATE 2356:

Looking like Kirk is going to take Obama’s former Senate seat in Illinois.

Good headline for tomorrow: “America takes Obama’s advice and punishes its enemies.”

Alternate headline: “Aqua Buddha is powerful and should not be angered.”

UPDATE 2337:

TOOMSDAY!!!

I’m hearing Toomey is the winner in Pennsylvania, so the defeat of Arlen Specter is now complete.

Also, Alan West is said to have won despite word getting out that he is sometimes mean to enemies of our country.

UPDATE 2325:

Don’t know if Bob “Who Are You!” Etheridge has conceded, but all votes are in and Renee Ellmers is up by nearly 2,000 votes. It looks like she won… and I helped! She was a huge underdog with nowhere near the funding of the incumbent, but it looks like she stood up and made it happen anyway. Congratulation to her, and I’m sure she’ll do a great job… probably with less violence. We need more regular people in Congress.

UPDATE 2314:

Oh, and Phil Hare, the guy who looks like a cartoon character and doesn’t care about the Constitution, he lost.

UPDATE 2309:

I’m listening to Huckabee make a Twilight analogy about the election. That guy is so hip and with it.

Boxer is projected to win in California. Over 30 million people in California, and that’s the best they can come up with. Brown will be governor again, since things have gone so great there in the past. Don’t you sometimes wish California could just wither and fall off?

UPDATE 2240:

Feingold projected to lose to… some guy who isn’t Feingold. That’s a big drop in the liberal meter in the Senate.

Nate Silver is now projecting 64-65 seat gain for GOP.

UPDATE 2236:

Niki Haley now projected to win as governor in South Carolina. She like a minority and a woman, so the southern Republicans voting for her must have really got confused or something.

UPDATE 2203:

Looking like at least a sixty seat gain for Republicans… bigger than 1994. We’ll have to wait to see exactly how big.

Things are neck and neck with Ellmers slightly ahead of the North Carolina Strangler with 75% in. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Oh, and McCain is now projected as winning. yay

New Mexico has elected a wise Latina as governor, wise enough to be a Republican.

UPDATE 2134:

Here’s a picture of me live blogging with my laptop, my iPad, and my Buttercup.

UPDATE 2115:

Barney Frank wins reelection. Well, it was nice to dream the dream. What a bunch of weirdos that would choose him over an Iraq vet who builds robots.

UPDATE 2115:

FOX News now projection GOP control of House with a 60 seat gain. I have a baby strapped to me.

UPDATE 2104:

NBC news is already projecting that Republicans will take the House by a wide margin. But Pelosi said exit polls showed they were on pace to keep their majority!

UPDATE 2057:

I should mention that just because Republicans don’t win the Senate outright doesn’t necessarily mean they won’t be able to control it. Senator-elect Manchin along with Ben Nelson and Lieberman will be ripe for party switching. “Come… to the dark side. You get to make fun of poor people.”

Also, I just want to mention again how awesome it is that Crist loss hugely. It renews my faith in humanity to know his political career is over.

UPDATE 2043:

I meant to say this earlier today so it wasn’t just like was reacting to returns, but I’d kinda rather not win the Senate this year. It will be much easier 2012 (six years after 2006 with lots of vulnerable Dems up for reelection) to get a majority, plus I think it will also be easier against Obama when he can’t just blame everything on Congress being controlled by the GOP (not that he doesn’t already try that).

UPDATE 2040:

It’s officially projected that Grayson has lost — and lost hugely. More Democrats really should emulate him!

UPDATE 2037:

The only House member Obama has campaigned for — Perriello — has lost. Pundits are blaming it on how Obama is stupid and everyone hates him.

UPDATE 2020:

So do you think those virgin sacrifices to Aqua Buddha are paying off so far?

UPDATE 2004:

Marco Rubio projected to win in Florida, perhaps getting more vote than Meek and worst example of a politician ever Crist added together. I have pretty much the same reaction to Rubio that I had to Obama when I first saw him in 2004… except he’s on our side! No wonder the Donks were so desperate to stop him.

Definitely worth a crazed Ewok eating pudding in celebration.

It’s also already projected that O’Donnell didn’t win. Too many voters didn’t believer her when she said she was a witch. They also agreed with Reid’s assessment of Coons that he’d make a nice pet.

Blumenthal is projected to win as well. I don’t like that guy. From my experience serving with him in Vietnam, he is not trustworthy.

UPDATE 1948:

It should be noted that Alvin Greene did not win. He did not have the fire in the belly.

UPDATE 1937:

From Tony Hernandez, a remembrance of an election one decade past.

UPDATE 1928:

Still apprehensive until I get more results. The thing is, only getting Republican gain in the 50s range would be a disappoint with all the hype. Less than that…

From Nathan Wurtzel:

Early returns in FL-8 (Grayson) are…hilarious. Webster up 63-28 with 6% counted.

It’s on! I’ll keep updating this post with what’s going on (and the other IMAO bloggers are free to add to this as well) and will also be pretty active on teh Twitters. In fact, if I could set it up for one night for all my tweets to appear on my blog, I would… but I’m a lazy lazy man.

Anyway, Rand Paul is already declared a winner. He was waning in the polls, a few days ago, but then he started head stomping hippies and he was unstoppable.

Also, make sure to check out Mary Katharine Ham’s new video finding an interesting parallel between the Rally for Sanity and Inception.

Now keep refreshing IMAO waiting for the next update!

  1. From my experience serving with Teddy Roosevelt and the French Marine Corp’s Rough Riders at the Battle of Waterloo against General Tso, I find the news of Blumenthal to be sad, but unsurprising. Only God can make people in New England open their eyes.

  2. Better get tne nets and guys in white suits in Orlando on call. No telling what Grayson will do.

Paul proves hippie stomping is good and productive.Good part: Paul will be a pain in the rear to the libs. Bad part: Ron Paul! Ron Paul! Ron Paul!

  3. Some I know are of the opinion that it would be satisfying to see Nancy suffer by losing her majority leader position, private jet and all, but I have to disagree. Although she may deserve it, the people of the US are better served by having someone less divisive in government.

  4. I wonder if Pelosi is surrounded with yes men like Mr Burns.

Mr. Burns: I’ve called you all here because I need some honest
answers. What is my current financial situation?
    Yes-man #1: Great!
    Lawyer: Great!

  5. Yay! Todd Platts won here. Rep. Platts is not a fancy politician nor a perfect one, but he doesn’t vote for Obama’s power grabs and he respects the right of the men and women of the 19th PA District to bitterly cling to liberty and, crucially, our precious, precious, shiny firearms. That is what I expect from a legislator.

  6. Corbett and Onorato neck and neck here. sigh

If the people of this state actually elect that nutjob, they have signed their own economic death warrant. If Rendell thinks he’s crazy, why would you vote for him? Good grief.

  7. Too bad Alvin Greene wasn’t running in Delaware,
he and Al Franken could have started their own caucus of twits.

    Kathy Dahlkamper, Pennsylvannia cong-woman,
Pro-life Dem who caved to vote for anti-life Obama care
just got proverbially vacurretted out of her seat in bloody chunks .

  8. I’m sorry I keep talking about Pennsylvania, but Corbett isn’t getting blown out in Allegheny County – Pittsburgh. As a matter of fact, he’s almost tied. Allegheny County is Onorato’s home county.

This race is only close because of Philadelphia. I hope they burn the joint to the ground when they riot after the Eagles win a Super Bowl in the next century.

  9. Is that photo evidence of voter fraud? Or is the voting age in Idaho <1? Your daughter is still adorable Frank! But be careful what you post in the ensuing years, you don't want to inadvertently provide the evidence that sinks her campaign for the Senate in 30 years.

  10. Here in Georgia we are seeing a blowout. Outside of the metro Atlanta welfare districts the good guys ae winning. The governor’s race wasn’t even close. And Bishop, a long term dem in congress, just got the boot. Yay !!!

A quick review of the liberal sites shows them to be in full denial./ meltdown. The left is in despair, so all is good.

  11. Frank I want to thank you for helping Ellmers. Etheridge is my congressman and what a piece of crap. He’s the only incumbent to lose in NC. I saw him at the Selma Railroad Days and shook his hand, then yelled “Who are you” at him.

  12. I helped with the ‘TOOMSDAY’ election, by voting for, well, the good guy. So glad to see him ahead. I’m actually rather proud of my state, swinging so hard back to the right this time around. That’s exceedingly rare here. It means enough people got out to out-vote the corruption and fraud that runs rampant here. 🙂

  13. Here in CA, Steve Cooley (R) is winning attorney general race. Other than that, best I can say is it looks like Rep. Mary Bono Mack (who still hasn’t explained her “cap & tax” yes vote) will squeak to reelection, without my vote (I chose the Libertarian in a protest vote). Oh, and the $18 car tax to fund state parks is losing.

  14. In the Soviet State of Washington, voters are turning down yet ANOTHER attempt (five or six since the ’30’s) at installing a state income tax. Starting out as a 1% tax “on the rich” (and pushed hard by the old man, Bill Gates Sr. – an old fart who just needs to STFU) within two years , the measure would have allowed the state to tax everyone. It’s losing at roughly 2 to 1. So, this is a good thing.

On the other hand, the battle between our brain-dead, tennis shoes communist, Senator Patty Murray and doesn’t-know-how-to-campaign squish Dino Rossi is too close to call. Meh. Murray already did her damage with Obamacare and the Stimulus . The person we REALLY need to get rid of is our Governor, Chrisy “Obama Brown-Nose” Greqoire. But that will happen next time… hopefully.

  15. I have seriously mixed feelings. On the one hand, we regained control of the House. On the other hand, Colorado is officially California Junior, at least in the gov and Senate side of things. On the other other hand, Matt Mead and his horse smashed the head of his Democrat opponent for governor of Wyoming. The man is super awesome. Kind of a mix of John Wayne and Agent Gibbs.

  16. I heard that after the Alaskan supreme court ruled that polling places had to provide lists of ‘write-in’ candidates for voters who asked for them, over 100 Alaskans signed up to be ‘write-in’ candidates.
I wonder how many have names suspiciously coincidentally similar to that Moocowski person.
I expect several will be of the I.P. Freely, Phil McCrackin, Amanda Huggankiss and G.I. Lovebeer variety.
They may be counting, and checking spelling for weeks.
    Reid still sucks.

  17. Granny Boo I caught him off guard I think. At first he thought I was joking. But yes he got angry when I cheered for a Renee Ellmers victory. I didn’t stay any more after that because I was wearing my non-political club’s t-shirt and didn’t want to cause a scene. I understand from the news this morning he isn’t conceding.

  18. The Minnesota House and Senate were taken over by the Republicans last night! First time in 38 years! Muwhahahahahahahahah! Of course we did elect a total dufus for Gov. but he can’t do anything now!

  19. I don’t mean to start something but………what do Reid, Pelosi, Frank, Schumer et al have to do to get booted from office? They’ve brought the county to the cliff of disaster. They have, at least Reid has, destroyed his states economy. They’re an embarrassment every time they open their mouths. They’re borderline traitors, socialists and fascists. They cast off their base whenever it’s convenient for them.

    Why?

    Really why?

  20. I really don’t know, seanmahair. Could it be that the liberal disease that elected them and Obama is only partially beaten back?

Winning elections is one thing. Handling the tough issues ahead is quite another.

Things that are not very funny things on my list this morning:

    (1) Will the Congress extend the Bush tax cuts and will Obama sign or veto, if so?

    (2) Raising the national debt ceiling – again – will come up in 2011. How will the new Republican majority in the House vote on that? This is going to be a monstrously big issue.

    (3) The Federal budget. I just can’t imagine any compromise happening in a battle between the Senate and the new House. Are we headed for irreversible gridlock? Will the Republicans “blink” this time like they did in ’95?
