John Kerry cautioned that “American power needs to be projected thoughtfully and appropriately.”
Yes, and preferably through the business end of a laser-guided missile.

Now I am thinking of his first foray into international politics in 1970 when he made the trip to Paris to meet with the Viet Cong to try to surrender.
LASER guided? Nope. These days you want a JDAM, which uses GPS receivers to steer to the target. No need to maneuver the dropping airplane to keep the LASER on the target, no concern about fog, clouds, or smoke interfering with the guidance system, etc., and no need for the dropping airplane to even have a LASER (not all do).

It could have been worse – he could have become (shudder!) President.

@3 MPH – Yeah, but “laser-guided” makes it sound all cool & science-fictiony.
When I think of GPS, I think of a computer-voice nagging me to make a U-turn.
