  1. I happened to turn to the PBS Newshour around dinnertime during the election, to see what they were saying.

Some doddering old white liberal analyst guy — no idea who — had the following comments:

Regarding Democrat candidates avoiding campaigning with Obama: They tried to distance themselves from him, “but they couldn’t do it . . . they were stuck to this tar-baby, if you will . . .”
Gee, imagine if a Republican had said that. (The black woman moderator didn’t even blink.)

About Scott Brown in New Hampshire: “here’s a guy who showed up on Thursday and started campaigning on Friday.”
    Not exactly true.

A panelist mentioned that if they won, the Republicans would have elected their first openly gay Republican governor, the first Republican female combat veteran, and the first black female Republican senator, which showed “the diversity of Republican candidates in this race” — at which the old guy interjected, “— But not the diversity of the Republican party.”

Two analysts were forecasting doom and gloom for the Democrats’ election results, but mentioned some point that “gave them some reason for some cheer.”

“And we’ll take any cheer we can get” in these election results, said the non-partisan blonde PBS anchor.

    Your tax dollars at work.

  2. Just think, in about two months’ time, we will be able to utter some of the most beautiful words in the English language. Words like:

    “Senate minority leader Harry Reid”
    “fomer Senator Kay Hagan”
“former Illinois governor Pat Quinn”, and
“Senator Joni Ernst” (I hope that she brings her hog-castrating knife to Washington)
