Hank Snow, one of the stars of early country and western music, was born May 9, 1914, in Brooklyn, Nova Scotia (one of the Brooklyns whose residents don’t whine about losing a major league team more than sixty years ago; we have one in Iowa, as well). Here he is singing his hit “I’m Movin’ On”:
