US Revises Passenger Safety Rules for Autonomous Vehicles
Phys.org / March 17, 2020The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says it’s seeking comment on proposed updated standards to account for vehicles that don’t have manual controls such as steering wheels or brake pedals. Autonomous vehicles also may not have drivers sitting in the traditional driver’s seat.
…
The public has about 60 days to comment on the proposal. Based on the comments, NHTSA would then put the rule into effect, the agency said.
Azimov commented on them years ago.

First rule is do no harm I should think.
I know we’re moving in that direction, but is a)industry b)government c)population ready to write rules for autonomous cars with no standard controls or seating? I don’t think so… Maybe autonomous cars with standard controls and seating. Maybe.
Wow! Two thumbs down.
Big Crash-Test Dummies must not like articles about no steering wheel, no brake pedals, and no drivers.
I guess that would imply no side-view mirrors or rear-view mirrors, as well.
Hmm, do we have an award for Tofu?
They don’t have to be perfect, only better than humans.
What kind of low life commie pre-vert would down thumb an article like this?? We have to protect our phoney baloney jobs here, gentlemen! We must do something about this immediately! Immediately! Immediately! Harrumph! Harrumph! Harrumph!
