  1. Dr. No – The Quintessential Theme

From Russia With Love – Dull as Hell

Goldfinger – Iconic. And the credits actually say “Pussy Galore”

Thunderball – Second Dullest song. Dull, dull, dull. Also, “Thunderball” never made sense. Thunder is a sound. Even the swimming chicks aren’t particularly interesting.

You Only Live Twice – Splashy Graphics. Horrible 50’s-Sounding Female Vocal. Freaking Lava, Smoke, and Geisha Girls. Zzzzzzzz. Screenplay by Roald Dahl? I didn’t know that.

Diamonds Are Forever – Now we’re getting more modern with the special effects. And a kitty cat. By the time the song is over, you’ve forgotten someone was even singing words, so instinctively do you tune it out.

Never Say Never Again – Nice voice. Not the opening credits, so can’t compare to the others on that score. Nice video.

    • I think the Bond themes posed special problems:

One had to be prepared to listen to diferent cuts of music and, remembering all, compare them. (At least those of us who didn’t know them by heart.)
      and
The opening credits themselves cry out to be judged as visuals, not as musical pieces.
      and
Some people may just like certain Bond movies and dislike others, skewing the voting on the theme songs.
