Midnight Special

Welcome to hump day. For your musical pleasure tonight we will be featuring a group that emerged from Jefferson Airplane. Perhaps not as well known there is some talent here and a great bluesy sound.

Ladies and gentlemen I give you…

Hot Tuna

So on to the music.

  1. Hot Tuna: Phish before there was Phish.

I saw Hot Tuna at the Chance in Poughkeepsie, NY in 1983. Good show, what I remember of it.
I had a dugout (bat hitter) and was in front with my elbows on the stage blowing hits at Yorma Kaukonen.
I’m not sure if I got him high, I did get me high though.

That’s a good venue, except for being in Poughkeepsie. It’s like a miniature Radio City Music Hall.
There are a bunch of places like that in upstate NY, from Albany down to NYC. The Ulster Performing Arts Theater (used to be the Broadway Theater) is one of the better ones. Too bad it’s in Kingston NY.
