Sneezes and Coughs Act Like ‘Mini Atomic Bombs’ and Regularly Exceed Two Meters

Remember, there is no hyperbole in science.
Always good for a Loughborough:
Researchers at Loughborough University have created a mathematical model which shows that droplets can reach more than 3.5 meters, without a facemask, significantly increasing the distance needed to stay safe.
Dr. Emiliano Renzi and student Adam Clarke have published the results in the journal Physics of Fluids.
Using data collected from experiments carried out in his bedroom
. . . Wait a second . . .
— due to the lockdown and closure of university labs —
(they hastened to add)
Dr. Renzi found that the largest droplets consistently traveled further than two meters.
It is due to a phenomenon known as a buoyant vortex—the turbulent motion of hot, dense air that we eject together with the droplets when we cough or sneeze.
…
Dr. Renzi said: “… In some cases, the droplets are propelled in excess of 3.5 meters by the buoyant vortex, which acts like a mini atomic bomb.”
Well, that settles it.
You are weapons of mask destruction. You’re all carrying Hero-shamer bombs. How dare you leave your house? How dare you?
Remember, there’s no hyperbole in science.

Researchers: COVID-19 Spreads Ten Meters or More by Breathing
Queensland University of Technology via Phys.org | July 6, 2020A plea issued by 239 scientists from around the world to recognize and mitigate airborne transmission of COVID-19 addressed to international health authorities is to be published in the journal Clinical Infectious Diseases.
…
“At typical indoor air velocities, a 5-micron droplet will travel tens of meters, much greater than the scale of a typical room while settling from a height of 1.5m above the floor.”

You’ve blinded me!
Can we surmise that taller people have an advantage? Studies! I want Studies. What if Covid kill the shortys among us.
Sounds good to me.
Has nothing to do with being 6’3″
Honestly.
A “God bless you” seems inadequate.
Dr. Renzi also stated that in his scientific opinion people should fart rather than sneeze. Unless, of course, it’s a wet fart, you’ll want to avoid those.
However did humanity survive before these geniuses started writing down what they did in their bedrooms?
Droplets traveling 3.5 meters in the bedroom is quite impressive.
SCIENCE! teaches us to examine constants and variables. The constant in these two studies is the use of the metric system. Abandoning that and going back to yards, ounces, gills, poods and versts will eliminate the threat.
But droplets traveling 0.70 rods in the bedroom seems inadequate.
Quite right, everyone deserves a full Rod in the bedroom.
I think we’ve determined conclusively that Units of measurement definitely matter.
