My wife is watching a series on a streaming service that I don’t recognize. I think it’s some ways down the rabbit hole that started with Hallmark movies. However something was odd about it.
The snappy banter was interlaced with explicatives but thats just par for the course now. It was something else.
The characters we’re talking over the end of each other’s lines and the cadence was faster than normal but that wasn’t all.
When I added the above with noting that they were emphasizing the wrong parts of words it hit me.
It sounded like a live action anime but without giant robots, aliens, murderous race drivers, or ultra men.
At first I thought it was Canadian which presents it’s own set of problems. So many of these streaming dramas are now.
Again, not one Astro Boy or violent martial artist among them. No G-Force, Battle of the Planets, space battle ships, or Voltrons to be seen. Just dumb ‘ol romance drama.
So it turns out it wasn’t Canadian, just vaguely Eastern Bloc.
I’m afraid I didn’t look directly at it. However it had some sort of “Idol” talent show late in the timeline. In it there was a rap-like song in some slavic language. That makes me think it was dubbed.

They stopped playing lingerie football because it was so much harder to get a tight spiral on a camisole than a ball.
besides, the 285lb linemen just didn’t do it for a lot of fans..
