Actually from his ( and his cronies) perspective socialism worked out EXACTLY as intended. He and his associates became stinking filthy rich, wielded unchecked power including having anyone they wished killed on a whim and never having to be held accountable. In reality that is the goal of almost EVERY politician pushing for the
implementation of socialism. And in the case of Cuba it was much more communism than socialism….which is always the goal of socialism.
And, he started out not just with an island, but with an island paradise.
