IMAO Baby Update
So we’ve found out the IMAO Baby, due in October, is going to be a girl. So if you have any good girl name suggestions, now is the time to tell them. I really like “Buttercup” for a middle name, but SarahK doesn’t like it because she hates joy and happiness. But I’m pretty settled on it; she’s going to be my little Princess Buttercup and I’m going to love her forever.
And I still think “Vengeance” is a good girl’s name.
So come up with some cool name suggestions, and if you want to celebrate that we’re having a girl, here’s a good idea: Buy my new t-shirt. Money will go towards buying Princess Buttercup pink things.

If we’re talking virtue names, then Justice is full of win.
May 12th, 2010 at 11:07 am
I really like the name “Steve.” Or you could call her, “Bubba Roy.”
May 12th, 2010 at 11:10 am
We had our little Isabella two years ago this October. That would tick of Neal Boortz who thinks all Isabella’s a Mexican. IMHO I would leave Buttercup as an unoffical nickname!
May 12th, 2010 at 11:12 am
How about “Equality”?
May 12th, 2010 at 11:13 am
Elora Danan is always nice …
May 12th, 2010 at 11:13 am
Actually, Bob is the best name for anything and anybody, IMHO.

Enola Gay Keeping with the nuke the moon theme.
May 12th, 2010 at 11:18 am
Veronica Reagan…then you can call her “Ronnie Reagan” for short. She can be a political statement.
And I DID buy your t-shirt, plus another one I thought was pretty cool…but dammit I want Nuke The Moon.
May 12th, 2010 at 11:19 am
You want a girl’s name? I’m partial to the name Dahlia. That’s what my knife’s name is m.m
May 12th, 2010 at 11:25 am
Vengeance Buttercup Fleming, sounds like a beautiful baby girl!
May 12th, 2010 at 11:36 am
I like Buttercup too. A name I would suggest is Margaret after Margaret Thatcher. You can also name her Ann Coulter “Buttercup” just to drive libs crazy.
May 12th, 2010 at 11:41 am
Veronica Reagan Fleming. I can’t beat that – so I’ll just note that the name “Fleming” can be construed as “Dutch”.
It was meant to be!
May 12th, 2010 at 11:44 am

First! Fleming
May 12th, 2010 at 11:51 am
Snark Raving Fleming.
May 12th, 2010 at 11:51 am
Congrats!
Buttercup is a much better nickname than Fart Blossom, which is what my dad called me.
Selene (Greek goddess of the moon) is pretty.
If you want a kick-ass, take-no-prisoners name, Thor works every time.
May 12th, 2010 at 11:53 am
Tabitha
May 12th, 2010 at 11:56 am
Whatever you do, do not name her “Hope” or “Change.” Bad, bad Karma.
By the way, make sure you keep her away from the ETrade baby. He looks like a bad kid. I was told that he caused the recent market crash.
May 12th, 2010 at 12:10 pm
I still like FrnakJr.
But since it’s a girl, it’s hard to argue with Veronica Reagan.
Failing that, maybe Golden Palace Dot Com (Dot for short), that way she could start paying her way right away and set a good example for any future kids.
May 12th, 2010 at 12:12 pm
I do have a question though, are you going to try to sell her a T-shirt that lists “Top Ten Names I Could Have Had”?
May 12th, 2010 at 12:13 pm
To sort of borrow form the Zappas…Nukethemoonunit?
May 12th, 2010 at 12:16 pm
Chastity Fleming
I. Ema Fleming
I like Buttercup, or is it Butter-whup
May 12th, 2010 at 12:18 pm
A girl! A girl! A girl!
Yay! Girls rock, dude!
Brace yourself – no matter what you’ve loved up until now, it will pale in comparison to loving her. Also, get used to the color pink. There is no escaping it. Don’t waste anytime thinking you can. Resistance is Futile.
Hortense Ambrosia Fleming
May 12th, 2010 at 12:26 pm
Hippy Puncher
May 12th, 2010 at 12:32 pm
Boadicea
May 12th, 2010 at 12:34 pm
Why don’t you name her what I named my daughter……..Zzyzxica?
May 12th, 2010 at 12:37 pm
Veronica Reagan is really…but you could just go with Reagan.
How about Reagan Liberty?
And, Buttercup will be her nickname from Daddy and no one else. Do you really want her future boyfriends calling her the same thing you call her?
May 12th, 2010 at 12:40 pm
Girls are great! I have two. One is a golfer and one is a fencer. One likes to smash things with curved sticks. One likes to stab things with swords. My little sweethearts. Hopefully this will keep the boys in check when they get a little older.
May 12th, 2010 at 12:55 pm
You can skip several that you were thinking about: Meadow, Ivy, Blossom and Rainbow. Chastity is right out. It’s bad luck in that she might not stick to it.
On the other hand, and yet on a serious note, I like the name Avalon as a unique girl’s name, although people would be tempted to call her Ava.
May 12th, 2010 at 12:57 pm
Ima. and middle name beginning with O. That can be her name on the blog. Ima O.
May 12th, 2010 at 1:04 pm
I’ll be happy as long as you don’t name her the same thing as every other girl in the United States is named this year. I’ve suffered through years of Jennifers, years of Jessicas, years of Madisons, Sophias, Olivias . . .
May 12th, 2010 at 1:08 pm
Hey, I know a lot of nice strippers named…, Ooooh! I see, never mind. Sorry
May 12th, 2010 at 1:11 pm
Lee Marvin.
May 12th, 2010 at 1:21 pm
Good gosh Marko, I like the name, but what if she grew up looking like him?
May 12th, 2010 at 1:22 pm
Donnarhea… It’s not quite diarrhea, and not quite gonorrhea, but safely in between. Or, if you wanna split it into two names, Donna Rhea.
May 12th, 2010 at 1:24 pm
Well Burma, I think I speak for all of us when I say we hope she gets her looks from her mom and not her dad.
May 12th, 2010 at 1:26 pm
Elena IMOA Kagen
May 12th, 2010 at 1:42 pm
If you wanted Frank-related name with a martial (as in German) air to it, Franziska would be a good selection. In fact, I bet a Franziska would mow the lawn if asked.
May 12th, 2010 at 1:45 pm
I named my son Justice Christopher, ……. Freedom Fleming has a certain ring……imao
May 12th, 2010 at 2:00 pm
Bonnie Blue Beretta “last name here”
May 12th, 2010 at 2:16 pm
Congratulations, Frank & Sarah!
May 12th, 2010 at 2:16 pm
I was going to suggest Sue, but I guess that wouldn’t work in this case. How about John or maybe George or maybe Kurt?
May 12th, 2010 at 2:19 pm
What about naming her Dianne. You can call her “Di” and then her middle name can be something really cool! How does Di Youfilthyhippie Fleming sound?
May 12th, 2010 at 2:55 pm
You should name her America, like America Shaftoe in Cryptonomicon. (Amy for short.) And then, when ever a liberal hates America, you have two reasons to punch them in their hippie monkey faces.
May 12th, 2010 at 2:56 pm
And of course, there is always Frank Jr.
May 12th, 2010 at 3:19 pm
Funny thing about girls is that you can pretty much name them whatever you want. Just like girls can wear boys’ clothes mostly without problems, they can have boy names, for the most part (just put a “-a” or “-ina” if you want a feminine name).
However, this doesn’t work with David. Don’t know why.
May 12th, 2010 at 3:39 pm
I was thinking a native American name might be appropriate: Na-n-see-Pay-lo-See, which is Ute for “she who can vaporize objects with her eyes”. But the more I think about it the universal name, “Hey You” might work.
May 12th, 2010 at 3:46 pm
“Vengeance Buttercup Fleming” has a certain ring to it. Stick to your guns on that (or is it nukes?). So if Buttercup runs into some boy and he convinces her that “it’s true love” what will you do?
May 12th, 2010 at 4:06 pm
Congratulations, Frank & Sarah! i like Maggie (as in the Iron Lady Thatcher).
Ronnie and Hippie Puncher were also a great ideas!
May 12th, 2010 at 4:17 pm
TheRoyalFamily,
My 8th grade teacher was a nun named Sister David.
May 12th, 2010 at 4:40 pm
Well, since anything ending in “a” can be a girl’s name, I think it’s appropriate to call her Ninja. Other than that, my own favorites are Danielle (Dani for short) or Helen (she launched 1000 ships, you know).
May 12th, 2010 at 4:56 pm
Vellocity
May 12th, 2010 at 5:10 pm
Ima Killyou Fleming
May 12th, 2010 at 6:04 pm
Great name might be” Miranda Vengeance.” Just an idea.
May 12th, 2010 at 6:47 pm
I agree with the “Veronica Reagan” suggestion, however if you are determined to stick with “Buttercup” as a middle name, I don’t see why you shouldn’t give her the first name “Princess.”
May 12th, 2010 at 6:51 pm
Nukie DaMoon Fleming.
~
The new Obamacare law that changes rules for
restaurants also affects childrens nicknames.
You will be allowed to refer to her as
“Princess SmartBalanceCup” or “Olive Oil”,
sorry.
PS Congratulations!

I have to say Vengeance Buttercup would be an awesome name.
Flowers are a good standby: Lily , Daisy, Violet, Periwinkle, Snapdragon, et cetera.
May 12th, 2010 at 7:40 pm
S. E. Buttercup
May 12th, 2010 at 8:33 pm
DISCLAIMER: These names upset my wife immensely at one point. She wouldn’t talk to me for five minutes:
Velociraptor Batman
Jurassic Parker
Doctor Saint
Saint Doctor
Georgina Washington
Braaaaains… X
Hagia Sophia
Dorkus Augustana
Optimus Prime
We eventually settled on:
Sophia Mercedes (Wisdom and Mercy)
May 12th, 2010 at 9:15 pm
Veronica “Ronnie” Reagan is so awesome I’m blinded, especially with the Dutch addition. However, Elinor is my favorite girl’s name– all my family has nothing but boys so it’s available.
May 12th, 2010 at 9:17 pm
and warmest congratulations– may God bless both of you and your little one! (Elinor Sarah… she can take Frances as her confirmation name….)
May 12th, 2010 at 10:07 pm
Try Audrey. I means good and brave. And she won’t hate you for naming her Audrey.
May 12th, 2010 at 11:12 pm
The middle name should be an adjective no matter what the first name is. Like if you call her Sarah, her middle name should be “the destroyer”, or if you name her Isabella, her middle name should be ” the impaler”. And if you name her Vengeance her middle name can be “rains down from the heavens”, although that’s kind of long.
May 12th, 2010 at 11:31 pm
Well so far I have to say I’m torn between Veronica Reagan or Vengeance Buttercup.
May 12th, 2010 at 11:55 pm

BuildMeUp Buttercup Don’tBreakMyHeart Fleming
Ann Coulter Fleming
DadHas Guns Fleming
Mara Jade Fleming
Fun with Google Translate
The following words mean Buttercup…
Tulikas (Estonian)
Leinikki (Finnish)
Bouton d’or (French)
Ranúnculo (Galician)
Ranuncolo (Italian)
Gundega(Latvian)
Vėdrynas (Lithuanian)
Menyn(Welsh)
There’s more, but you get the idea. If you named her Nicole, it would at least be a LITTLE bit like Leinikki.
May 13th, 2010 at 12:46 am
I like the flower theme. Pitcher Plant, Poison Ivy, Belladonna…wait, that’s a fungus. Fungus names are also cool. Mycoprotein. That’s a good name. That’s not a fungus though. That’s just a protein from a fungus. You could give her the name of a protein, like p53. That’s a Suppressor protein.
Suppressor Fleming. Oh, you could call her Commander. That could be her name. Commander Fleming. Or Feldmarshall. Oberlieutenant. Maybe not, that’d sound too much like Nazi. I guess you could call her Nazi Fleming, but that’d be wrong. You could get close though, you could call her Erica Holder Fleming.
May 13th, 2010 at 2:04 am
Ohio…because when you name your kid something trendy or exotic, it’s often hard for them to find one of those little license plates with their name on it for their tricycles. But, you’ll always be able to find a license plate that says Ohio…they have a whole state full of them.
May 13th, 2010 at 2:34 am
I recommend either “Alex P Fleming” or “Margaret Thatcher Fleming”
May 13th, 2010 at 6:36 am
Actually Vengeance isn’t that far off on a name…a friend named her new baby girl Reverence Hope (and no nothing to do with Nobama’s change problem). She’s very happily a conservative and not concerned with change unless its the for the bad. So Vengeance isn’t far off from Reverence – in pronunciation at least…and spelling and well they’re both quite kick ass names!
May 13th, 2010 at 6:39 am
Doh I forgot. How about?? Arizona. (and if you’re going for floral names go exotic) Orchid, Ficus, Hibiscus, Lilac, or Nicotania – name her after tobacco?
May 13th, 2010 at 7:28 am
Cheyanne Cody. Name I used a few years back at Daddy’s Blue Note in Arizona.
May 13th, 2010 at 9:13 am

Second, i always liked Rini as a name. Its japanese for “little bunny.”
May 13th, 2010 at 9:14 am

May 13th, 2010 at 10:51 am
Barak
May 13th, 2010 at 11:37 am
Congrats Frank and Sarah!
A name? Well, names to avoid would be Ivana, Anita and Amanda to bypass all those “I want a”, “I need a” and “a man to” jokes in middle school. Avoid names that rhyme with bodily functions.
Of course avoid Bertha, Hortense and the like.
I like Buttercup as a nickname. It builds me up.
How about Goodwyfe? Heh. Or Alewife?
No, um, Justryanstopme Fleming.
Oh, I got it!
3am Fleming! It’s perfect! It’s cool because it’s got a 3 in it. And it’s got half of Gods’ title in it. (“I am”). And it’s the time of morning you’ll fill up your swear jar.
May 13th, 2010 at 11:44 am
“Buttercup Vengeance” is the world’s most awesome new girl’s name. You’re a genius. AND You MUST, you simply MUST!
May 13th, 2010 at 6:07 pm
How about “Daddy’s got a shotgun Fleming”?
May 13th, 2010 at 11:34 pm
You should pick a name which
a) pays homage to her Mom, SarahK, who will be doing double duty come October
b) is culturally relevant and
c) reflects the uncertain world she is about to grace…
therefore:
Kay Sarah Sarah Fleming..
comprende?
May 14th, 2010 at 10:57 pm
How about Leah? You don’t hear that too much these days.
