20/20 on Guns

So did 20/20 really do a show on whether you can defend yourself with guns? What’s next, a show on whether you can get yourself places with cars? I can just imagine that hatchet job:

“Our volunteer to try using a car ended up taking a wrong turn, and do to the faster speed of the car versus walking, he quickly ended up even further away from his destination than when he started. So he ended up worse off with the car than if he had no car at all.”

These shows are exactly why it’s a bloggers job to make sure traditional journalists lose their jobs and end up living on the street in boxes and then we poke holes in those boxes so they get rained on.

Maybe we could do an exposé on whether journalists make you less informed about the news and should be banned.

Capitalist Propaganda “Going Green With Cap and Trade”

[Hat tip: Hot Air]

From 2009, The Tax Foundation explains the Cap & Trade bill with a sprightly little ditty, “Going Green With Cap and Trade”:

[YouTube direct link]

Lyrics below if you want to sing along:

We’re gonna…
Cap and trade
all carbon emissions
gonna cap and trade
that will be our mission

We’re gonna cap and trade
see what I mean
the government is
going green today…
We cap and trade.

See cap and trade
charges folks for releasing carbon
like companies that use
vehicles that park and

utilities and factories
who pass the cost
to people who will pay
for cap and trade

It sounds like cap and trade
is a tax we pay then
No sir, cap and trade
is just a regulation

See tax is when there’s
money spent
this is just a fee to the government
Okay?
It’s cap and trade.

So with cap and trade
won’t things be more expensive?
Well just…everything
but don’t be so apprehensive

Just clothes and food
and heating bills
and anything that needs
to be shipped will
be raised
with cap and trade.

But how is cap and trade
not a tax there, sonny
when we all have to pay
the government our money

You don’t seem to understand my friend
we’re going green, doesn’t that make sense?
they’ll pay
for cap and trade.

Sounds like cap and trade
is some sort of weird humor
because these fees will just be
passed on to the consumer

Yes, but check this chart
you’ll see for sure
the biggest burden will be
on the poor who’ll pay
for cap and trade

See who cares if cost of most goods go higher?
And household income levels all go down?
and if estimated environmental impact is not really calculable,,,

Oh, what a scene, I’m really keen
the government is going green
We’re going green
with cap and trade!

Robama

Have you seen Disney’s new robot Obama:

I like him a lot better than regular Obama and think we should consider him for president instead. Think of the advantages.

ADVANTAGES OF ROBAMA OVER REGULAR OBAMA

* More consistent.

* Shows no fear.

* Can speak without aid of a teleprompter.

* Can be programmed to tell the truth.

* Has better friends and associates (other robot presidents).

* Bulletproof.

Something to think about.

Who to Blame

With Palin’s sudden departure from politics caught us all by surprise, a lot of people are looking for an explanation. Why would she leave us like this? Did we do something wrong?

Well, I didn’t do anything wrong – I’m sure of it! – but it’s true we need to find a culprit. And after my analysis, I know exactly who to blame for Palin departing: IMAO commenter MarkoMancuso.

The morning Palin left, I wrote a post about Palin, and MarkoMancuso commented:

I am afraid that we will have no choice but to burn you at the stake now.

This flippant comment directed at me contained no praise for Palin in a time she desperately needed it. It’s like he took Palin for granted. I bet it was the final blow that sent her fleeing from politics. In fact, I’m certain of it. This is all because of MarkoMancuso!

MarkoMancuso is now persona non grata at IMAO. For causing Palin to leave us, we should all shun him in the comments. No one ever say anything to him again except to tell him he’s shunned. We supported Palin approriately, MarkoMancuso, but you made her leave! Why did you do this! Why?! We’re all stunned and confused and it’s all your fault!

Successful Revolution

Here’s a neat post at The Volokh Conspiracy on why the American Revolution was successful. Here’s what I think are the ingredients to a successful revolution:

* Principles.
* Motivated people.
* Organization.
* Dinosaurs.
* Laser cannons.
* Gravity.

Actually, I guess the last one is only needed for the revolution of a planet around the sun. You could have a political revolution without gravity, but it would be hard to orient yourself.

Random Thoughts

Good news, everyone: More than 90% of people are still employed.

Palin could do a lot more good for this country flying around in a helicopter shooting hippies than Obama can do with his stimuluses.

Good News: 95% of Americans will not have their taxes raised. Other Good News: You reading this now, you’re in the top 5%!

My computer program just said, “Hello world.” I think it’s become self-aware!

Do you think Daily Kos diarists will end up like Skynet and become self-aware?

So did the first snake happen because a lizard smoked while it was pregnant? And before you correct me, I know how evolution works. I did watch the X-Men movie.

We can act like Franken is beneath the Senate, but their main job is to vote yes or no on things. You could train a dog to do it.

We engineers are just too practical for politics. Also, lack of social skills. And too damn sexy.

Just because 98% of the criticism of Sarah Palin is idiotic doesn’t mean we give her a pass on the 2%.

I hate Palin now. I hate everything I don’t understand. That’s what being a conservative is all about.

Ironically, if Palin is giving up politics for her family, that proves she’s a true conservative.

Bill Kristol is saying maybe Palin is crazy like a fox. I’m still thinking crazy like a crazy person who is very crazy.

The one thing that always made me suspicious about Sarah Palin is how she’s a politician. Now she’s perfect!

Dropping out of politics is not a very politically savvy move.

Have you seen Disney’s new robot Obama? Do you think we could secretly replace the real one with it?

Don’t look at me for our next hope for 2012. I’m not eligible to be president until 2014. Then it’s on!

Don’t be mad at North Korea. If I had missiles, I’d launch them in celebration of the 4th of July too.

I didn’t mean to cause a scene, but when your children reach a certain level of ugliness you really should leave them at home.

Someone ranked Palin in his top five politicians without ranking her number one. Should I shun him as a Palin-hater?

I know someone who is related to someone who is friends with someone who doesn’t like Palin. Shun?

I’m glad someone invented Twitter so we can make fun of blog commenters behind their backs.
