In America, “bringing a knife to a gunfight” is a punchline.
For Islamic terrorists, it’s a battle plan.
The suspect was charged with two counts of attempted murder Saturday after breaking into artist Kurt Westergaard’s home armed with an ax and a knife on Friday night. He denied the charges at the court hearing.
Westergaard – one of 12 Danish artists whose cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad outraged the Muslim world in 2006 – escaped the attack by fleeing to a specially made safe room and alerting police. Police shot the Somali man in the hand and knee.
Or they watch badly subtitled versions of “The Untouchables”.
I always liked that scene in “Raiders”
Danish police must have really bad aim.
Maybe they have a rule there that the police can’t aim for center mass.
A knife can be a decent weapon when used by murderers in an unarmed society.
The guy must have forgot and left his pantybomb at home.
Let’s hope all jihadis adopt the blade as the weapon of choice for terror. Knifes always lose in fight against dino-mounted rocket launchers commanded by Dick Cheney.
Or my 1911.
You’d think that Jihadis would have invented Light Sabers by now. Stoopid Jihadis
Great scene.
I heard that Harrison Ford was sick the day of that scene,
running a very high fever.
So, rather than a long, exhausting shoot of an
epic whip v. sword battle in the hot sun
Ford suggested shooting the bad guy,
Lucas agreed, and a valuable lesson was taught to everyone
– except the attempted murderer of Kurt Westergaard.
Let’s be realistic: At the range at which a sword is useful, it is more effective than a gun. It just happens to be the fact that in most cases, there are plenty of opportunities to shoot the guy with the sword before he closes range. In tight corridors, in indoor spaces, however, is a good example of the sort of place where the advantages of having a gun may be minimal, and you might think it might be a good idea to have a weapon whose threat zone is not a narrow, dare I say bullet-sized, line going out from the gun’s barrel, but rather a nice wide arc.
For the best preparedness, I would suggest just keeping both a gun and a sword on hand.
