Religious War

So on FOX News Sunday yesterday, Brit Hume recommended that Tiger give up his Buddhism and become a Christian to seek redemption. This kind of stood out to people, as I guess the rule in polite society is we’re supposed to mindlessly treat all religions as equal (“Islam means peace!”) because it’s just mean to do otherwise. I’m not quite sure how we arrived at that conclusion, but I wonder if it’s really a good idea. I’m all for government being secular, but why can’t the rest of society be a free for all? Picking a system of morality is a big deal, and I’d like to hear more people explain why they chose one over another. Wouldn’t it be great if a reporter put Obama on the spot and said, “You chose to become a Christian. So what advantages does Christianity have over Islam?”

What do you think his answer would be?

  1. If a Muslim had stated that Tiger should turn to Allah, no one would have blinked…it would have been expected. Why wouldn’t a Christian suggest that he should turn to Christianity? Good for Brit! Meanwhile, Bill Kristol was his usual wuss self, nervously distancing himself from Brit’s statement, completely terrified to comment on it…wuss.

  2. Obozo’s answer would be:
Uh er um uh huh huh huh uh I think uh with out all the facts er um uh um er huh huh being in that um huh er uh you uh asked that question uh stupidly. Globull uh warming is uh huhhuh er the one er true path huh huh uh um to inner peace.

  3. Tiger Woods is a Bootyest? Who knew? I guess chasing all that booty must have given him away.

The libbies are screaming and flinging poo like raging monkeys at the zoo because Hume asked Woods that question. It’s seems to be okay to ask someone to join Sceince!tology, Islam, EST, Global Warming, Obama is Teh One, Eckankar PTL, Microsoft, or other cults all day long. Just don’t mention Christianity.

  4. Aside from self-sacrifice and dedication, Christianity is bad because it frowns on adultery with random bimboes, making itself the bane of liberal Democrat politicians.

The militant and organized non-Allahpundit atheists are jealous because they are a religion and want that tax-exempt action.

  5. uss jimmy, I don’t know if you know this but your #9 comment is absolutely a fact. I was there in Chicago at the time, involved in the “organizing” scene, and can attest to the fact that the plan to draw in churches was a well-thought out effort that involved organizers “hooking up” with a church and schmoozing them into the fold. Problem was, any true, Bible-focused church quickly rejected the humanist, leftist agenda. The only ones that really worked out were Liberation Theology infested to start with (Catholic and Protestant) or the Godless Unitarians. It was sick and opportunistic.

  6. Reporter: “President Obama, what is your official take on Christianity?”
Obama: “Uh, Um, well, to say definitively that Jesus was ‘the Christ’ as opposed to ‘a christ’, is uh, above my pay grade.”

  7. Re #13 Quite a few years ago I caught a couple of back-to-back conferences on c-span. The first was for Christian conservatives. It started with the speaker (Ralph Reed, as I recall) making a couple of lighthearted jokes about liberals. Then the rest of the conference was dedicated to a discussion of issues. The second conference was some liberal group like NOW and the entire conference consisted of railing against evangelical Christians. They went on and on about conservatives violating “separation of church and state.” Then at the end of the conference the speaker told everyone to reach out to liberal churches to form political alliances. So it’s a political strategy that’s shameless in it’s double standard and that isn’t limited to Chicago.

  8. put Obama on the spot and said, “You chose to become a Christian. So what advantages does Christianity have over Islam?”

What do you think his answer would be?

Answer: “Uh, duh, it got me ellected”

  9. Standing in a garage doesn’t make you a car, anymore than sitting in church makes you a Christian. i.e., Christian in “Name” does not equate to Christian in “Deed”.

“No other gods above Me” includes the churches of global warming as well as ecumenical politics. BHO needs a real good baptism to scrub off the filth he’s accumulated over the years.

  10. I am a Christian and firmly denounce all other religions as false. Having said that, allow me to share how both Christianity and Buddism are superior to islam. No one – from either side – will riot in the streets over this. Buddist will not break into Brit Hume’s house with axes and knives. School teachers won’t be flogged for blastphemy. Neither side will behead any Jewish journalists. Buildings will not be bombed. Jihad will not be waged.

I could go on, but I think I’ve made my point…

  11. You should choose whatever path works for you. Being born into a religion does not mean you must remain there. It is very arrogant to suggest someone should change their religion although many religions practice this actively. You must find what works for you, what speaks to you. It is completely personal.
