Where No Pitch Meeting Has Gone Before

I grew up watching Star Trek. The original Star Trek. I even had a Mr. Spock haircut. Well, as close as I could get to it. I looked more like Moe from The Three Stooges. Still, I loved the original Star Trek when it aired back in the 1960s.

Not so much a fan of the movie reboot. And, I think our friend (whom we’ve never met or spoken to or communicated with in any way) Ryan George got it right.

I miss when Star Trek was good.

Another band I never really got into was U2. Again, not so much the politics thing as it was the music wasn’t really meant for me. I did like the South Park parody of Bono. Well, “like” is a strong word, but I did laugh. I’m not gonna suggest you watch it. You do that at your own risk.

Some artists only have one really big hit. The duo known as Young-Holt Unlimited had only one Top 40 hit under that name; they had a minor hit with “Wack-Wack” under a different name. And this tune was originally titled “Am I The Same Girl,” but was not released until a year after this instrumental version hit number 3.

Never really got into They Might Be Giants. I don’t know why. I’m not a fan of their politics, but they’re not as bad in that regard as some other musicians. They’re kinda par for the course. No, I just never got into their music. Not that it’s bad. It’s not. It’s just, I don’t know, something I never got into.

Confession time. I thought I had shared this before. But, I don’t see it in my list (yeah, I keep a list) and I didn’t find it doing a search. So, if I did share it before, my apologies. Unless you really liked it and am glad it was repeated. If so, then it was just for you, because we care that much.

I started watching that alternate history program on Apple TV+ “For All Mankind.” I’ve only watched one episode, but I’m not certain I’ll watch more. It’s technically well-done, but I’m not sure I care for the storyline, at least so far.

Maybe I’m old-fashioned, but I’m not certain how any alternate history of the space race could make for a better story than what really happened.

Of course, we didn’t know back then that the Soviet Union’s space program was in such bad shape. We really became aware of it when U.S. and Soviet astronauts/cosmonauts trained together for the Apollo-Soyuz joint space flight. That flight didn’t have the glamor of Apollo 11, nor the suspense of Apollo 13, but it did help fulfill the promise of Apollo 11: venturing into space, in peace, for all mankind.
