Tuesday Night Open Thread

Old songs are the best. I’ve never been a big fan of Bing Crosby, though. However, this topped the charts in late 1943 for seven weeks.

  1. This record (like several others in 1943 by Sinatra, Como, etc.) features no instrumentalists, only voices. The head of the American Musicians Union had called a strike. No instrumentalists were allowed to work in recording studios. Vocalists were exempt. This song was heard in the newest Crosby picture, and was becoming extremely popular and Decca wanted to get the disc out! – Decca was, BTW, the first label to settle with the Union.
