It’s looking like a major upset in the Alaska GOP primary for Senate, as the Sarah Palin and Tea Party backed candidate Joe Miller is currently ahead of the establishment backed incumbent Lisa Murkowski. I think the lesson don’t have blue-state Republicans in a red state — especially not this year.
We really need to go over the proper application of “moderate” Republicans with the RNC. There are certain states where pretty much everyone sucks and it’s a great accomplishment to get a RINO elected there who will actually vote the GOP some of time. They may suck, but the state sucks so they go together and at least we have a token ‘R’. That’s pretty much always worth it, though really I don’t even want our party name associated with that little nanny dictator running New York City. If it’s not a blue state, then don’t get some whiny little squish because I don’t see the advantage of having the base constantly infuriated at the GOP.
Oh, and if you do have to get a blue state Republican, at least get one who has something they’re really conservative at. New Jersey is a lead-paint guzzling blue state, but Chris Christie doesn’t seem like a RINO because he loves cutting the budget so much. And Giuliani never seemed that bad because he loved beating criminals and terrorist to death with a tire iron.
Oh, and one last thing, I want someone to apologize to me for Hagel. I don’t know who, but someone. And it should be in writing.
An apology is also due for Lindsy Graham, please. How can the state that gives us Jim Demint also give us Lindsy Graham?
I am so very very sorry for Hagel! I still feel suckered because I once tossed a vote his way. Frank J. is on the money – don’t vote for Republican candidates just because they’re there – you never know when that kind of vote is going to come back to haunt you. Better to vote Independent than Hagel. Two words: Never Again!
I think that people underestimated Sarah Palin.
Can see the the Enlightened Drive by Media choking on this.
Maybe they will begin to realize what the Tea Party is capable of doing.
Bloomberg should run as a Democrat, because he gives Republicans a bad name.
Absolutely, Frank. There’s no reason red states should elect squishy Republicans or even worse, “conservative” democrats.
Scott Brown in Massachusetts: awesome – this would give Ted Kennedy a heart attack if he wasn’t already dead.
Scott Brown in Utah: @*$# no! Get a real conservative in there.
Also, “New Jersey is a lead-paint guzzling blue state” is the funniest thing I’ve read in quite some time. I’m going to use that from now on any time I talk about New Jersey.
Spot on, Frank. BTW, I want you and SarahK to move to Washington State in a few years and run for Senate (that’s right, both of you occupying the same seat!). Dino Rossi is a good example of a squish that will probably lose to that lying-her-head-off Patty Murray. But you could tear this place apart and beat the lies (“living tar”) right out of her. That’d help change this God-forsaken place to a Red State. (Hey, I can dream, can’t I?)
Jimmy, you folks need to annex Idaho and Montana if you want to become a red state. At least in Pennsylvania we sometimes have enough country boys to beat back the Unions and the wine-sipping, Mercedes-driving Philly yuppy hordes from Philly to get some “moderate” Republican guy like Tom Corbett a lead in the polls.
The term moderate is a misnomer. Cowardly democrat light is more the correct term.
How stupid are the people of arizona. They had hope with Brewer and Arpaio, but then they shaft us again by giving us the wart that keeps on voting d. Sigh.
Well at least I don’t have to take blame for hagel or graham.
Oh, NOW we like Giuliani! Too bad you didn’t realize this three years ago when you were coming up with nonsensical reasons to vote for no-chance knucklehead Fred Thompson…
He didn’t say he liked Giuliani, you bonehead. He said, “And Giuliani never seemed that bad…”
Big difference. Speaking of big differences, Fred Thompson is a conservative who as a Senator respected the Constitution, albeit with a few mistakes. Rudy is too busy looking for my rifle to respect the Constitution. Fred Thompson is also a decent actor; whereas Rudy is a crappy actor if you judge his performance when trying to win over conservative voters.
Hey, Rudy Guliani wasn’t a bad actor in the SNL sketch “Janet Reno’s Dance Party”. Of course, he was playing himself…
I remember you pitching for Giuliani three years ago, bunkerboy . And I seem to remember saying something like “America doesn’t elect Mayors as Presidents” or something like that. Of course he’d be better than Obama, bunker. But so would you and Ernie and Marko – and probably Frank’s dog, too.
Jimmy: Hell, Frank’s cat would be better.
OK. That was full of the funny. Thank you. I left the RINO party behind almost two decades ago because I couldn’t stand the ditzy little girls in Republican clothing (they are literally teenage girls at the mall with your credit card). I’ll bet 25% of elected Republicans can’t even define the word ‘republic’. If George Washington were alive, he’d say “HELP! Somebody let me out of here!”
…. ’cause he’s in a coffin…
What’s Fred doing these days? His wife leave him yet? Or is she holding out for “Law and Order: Nashville”?
I have read rumors that Fred is an arrogant twit living in his Dad’s basement.
I think those rumors are confusing him with someone else.
