But the planet IS in trouble! Its humans are off their rockers.
There were, from the quotes I’ve glanced at earlier today, some who just went all in. Most of the people who made the predictions were sensible enough to leave themselves an open door with words like “if current trends on continue” and the ever popular “if we fail to take action” or “unless we take action.”
And the environment is better. It’s been years since a river caught on fire, for example, and most of what comes out of smoke stacks is steam. Maybe that’s why the EPA is such a pain now; they’re like the immune system of a kid who grew up in a sterilized house and just makes allergic attacks—they don’t have anything major to do now.
