The true stars of this movie are #3 Son Tommy Chan and Birmingham Brown. There was a missed opportunity here that could have spanned decades.
The 70s could have seen a whacky sit com with these two called Chan & Brown. It could have been a screwball comedy about two guys setting up a detective agency in LaGrange Georgia. The Swedish janitor lady could have been their zany neighbor. Or maybe she could be a Schneider-Esque character a-la One Day At A Time. Or the Bookman character a-la Good Times.
Or it could have been an 80s buddy movie. Chan & Brown “They’re Cops! They enforce the law! But they’ll steal your heart”. The crabby tv/radio producer lady could play their captain.
Or it could have been a 90s tv dramedy. The story of two investigators traveling across country. They hate each other but have to work together to solve mysteries. The Swedish janitor lady could be their receptionist that keeps getting cases confused due to translation issues and hijinks ensue.
Or it could have been a 2000s Disney kids show. Chan & Brown (as kids!) they set up a business at school to solve their friends problems and their crabby principal keeps getting In the way. The Shakespearean actor from this movie could play the principal. Tommy’s dad Charlie keeps bailing them out of trouble.
Im aware of the Hanna Barbara cartoon from the 70s “The Amazing Chan and the Chan Clan”. This could take advantage of that medium too. All I’m saying is that if a cartoon version of Chan & Brown started to get stale then we could kick in the insurance policy.

Good question. The Swedish janitor lady from the movie looked like she was in her 30s. That doesn’t mean that the Swedish janitor lady at the school shouldn’t be a swimsuit model.

We went to the florist, and told him all about the situation. He said that he had the perfect bouquet to say “Get Well Soon.”
Then she told us what it would cost.
So please accept these flowers that say, “Get Well Eventually.” 💐

Money machine!
They could even incorporate a semi verbal animal sidekick, caveman, or genie. Y’know, for kids!
I’m intrigued — does the school have a Swedish janitor lady?
Good question. The Swedish janitor lady from the movie looked like she was in her 30s. That doesn’t mean that the Swedish janitor lady at the school shouldn’t be a swimsuit model.
In fact I think that’s the only logical option.
So, my question is who culturally appropriated the Chan character better, Warner Oland or Sydney Toler?
I’m going to go with Warner Oland. Probably because he’s the first one I saw. And he didn’t take no sas from his young’ns.
