It would be really refreshing if there were one candidate who would decide which side of the issue he is on and be consistent.
As much as I disagree with the POTUS on immigration at least he’s consistent. Wrong but he’s consistently wrong and you can count on him being wrong in the future, because he’s sure he’s right. Here’s a bit of comfort – the other day I had the misfortune of being on an elevator with an American leftart and a British leftard. All the world needs is another warmonger in power here.” And that made me feel warm and fuzzy inside. I may think of McCain as something to be endured, like that numb, slowly increasing, nauseating pain that follows a swift kick to the crotch, but Europeans are afraid of him. If the Brits are scared of him, the French have probably lost control of their bowels. It’s not much, but it’s something.

Interesting how the fight in Basra is led by “Iraqi forces” and not the US (at least that’s how it’s being reported) and comes on the heels of a British withdrawal after poor execution there during the past few years. If it turns out to be a successful housecleaning, it might mark a turning point leading to a resumed reduction of our forces.
I saw John McCain on TV with Nancy Reagan the other day and I have to say that McCain made Nancy look young! After watching about 5 minutes of his speech the other night I decided to shut it off and go slam my pecker in the door jam several times to ease the pain! Good grief! The time for the argument was during the primaries. They may not technically be over, but they may as well be. I distinctly remember a few months ago that people, even on this website, were stamping their feet & shaking their fists that if McCain got the nomination, they wouldn’t vote. Or they’d vote for Hillary. Tell me, Jimmy, how is that different from the childish buffoonery the Dhimmies have on display right now? In fact, it more than likely pushed voters to McCain. I have news for all of you: They are ALL politicians, and thereby full of crap; to base all your hopes and dreams for the future on them is the height of folly. No, I know you didn’t say McCain was wonderful Raving Lunatic. But I sense you can feel ussjimmycarter’s pain and my (and other’s) astonishment at what McCain is really going to mean. The man is just exactly who he appears to be. Read McCain’s speech very carefully. Not even Bush ultimately believed in the priority of an allied consensus in order to bring down Saddam, the biggest Stalinist student – and actuary – since the man himself. Amazingly, Bush actually DID act in the spirit of that famous Democrat, John F. Kennedy, whose quotation I keep bringing up. Now that we (Bush) did the right thing, that jig is up. Can you picture the malaise of the next four years? Or is this just McCain’s tactic to embrace independents and moderate Democrats in order to win? If so, some of us “old guys” have lived our lives by NOT acting like that. And we expect our President to stand with us not on some global fence of wishy-washy collective European spirit (pronounced “BS”). That collective spirit turned against Bush when it was revealed that French, German, English and Russian companies AND governments were building everything for Saddam and were awaiting the balance due. Amazing, how the real story of Bush’s bravery on this count has been buried and forgotten but it’s overtones are now being heard – in McCain’s speech of all places! It’s like we’re being told now how it’s gonna be. Like the whole thing was a mistake. Like we boo-boo’d with European proportions. Bush busted up the neo-Stalinist, global game. Shame on him.
This is a bloody conundrum for all of us. There isn’t ANY humor in it. Damn me for “whining” but the new emperor is scantily clad. I fear our enemies no longer fear us and that the peace – through our own strength and resolve – will not be maintained.

mccain got the nomination without any help from conservatives. His speeches since then indicate he doesn’t think he needs conservative help to win the election, and won’t pay any attention to conservatives if he does. People seem to be remembering this when the RNC calls asking for donations.

I will grant you that McCain is a bad choice for President. Heck, among the R candidates he was IMHO only better than the lunatic Ron Paul and Huckabee.*
However, to say he is not different from the Clintobamination is simply not true.
He is a fiscal conservative, good on taxes, great on spending discipline. He also tells the truth about the role of the federal government. Look up his speech on the mortgage (non) crisis which is spot on GREAT. (of course McCain being McCain followed it up the next day with the crappy foreign policy speech the next day, le sigh)
He will likely appoint better justices that Clinton or Obama. There can be mistakes (look Reagan nominated Kennedy for goodness sake) but there will not be a deliberate screaming leftist like Ginsburg.
McCain will fight, the Clintbamation will surrender. Think for a moment what would have happened on 9/12/2001 on if Al Gore had been president.
Now that I have defended McCain, I feel the need to go shower.

Because that’s it. That’s your choice. McCain or Clintobama. There is no other. You can’t opt out. We are stuck, and all the complaining in the world will not change it. It can only make it worse.
As I said before, this continuing ruckus will only help the Dhimmis. On the other hand, I’m probably older than you both and it just may be – due to age alone – that I’m already ‘there,” to wit:

Well there you go, Jimmy! I knew you had some reason in you somewhere 😉 I just see it differently in that now is the time to lay low on it (relatively), and save the energy for the meaningful fights ahead. Right now there’s nothing to gain and a lot to lose.
I might not be old, but I’m no spring chicken either. In fact, today is my 39th birthday! (all presents and cash may be sent to my home address.)
In that short little time, though, I learned that negative attitudes beget negative results. You never know, McCain might not be the worst thing to happen to the US. He might not be to our liking, but I’m pretty confident he’s not another Jimmy Carter. Maybe.
I like your point, though, that we need to keep the pressure on him so maybe he’ll learn (Do you old guys ever learn anything new?). But my take on that would be to keep the spectacle to a minimum, unlike our democrat counterparts.
