I hadn’t followed LGF for a while, and then I finally started using an RSS reader recently and began adding all the big blogs including one of the first blogs I had ever read: Little Green Footballs. I missed what led to it, but Charles Johnson seemed to be on a anti-Creationism kick now… which is okay. Some of them can be quite annoying and a little obtuse at times. It seemed like half his posts were on the subject, though, and something about that seemed well… a bit off, I guess. I basically agreed with him, it’s just the intensity that was disturbing. I’m not even sure most biologist care to get in that debate that much. Then he started getting on what he saw as extremism anywhere in the right-wing. Okay, extremism is bad, so I guess that’s okay. But then it seemed like every post was on some conservative idiocy he wanted to expose. Eventually I was like, “Am I remembering wrong, or didn’t he used to go after liberals too?”
So yesterday I saw he had a headline with Napolitano in the title, and I thought, “This should be good. It will be neat to go after her idiocy.” But no, it was Judge Andrew Napolitano from FOX News of course, because why talk about the Obama administration when someone on FOX News said something or other. And maybe he had a good point about Andrew Napolitano, but I just didn’t care. There are already plenty of blogs focused on constantly exposing bad things about the right-wing — they’re called liberal blogs. If you are a friend of the right and are one day critical, everyone will sit up and pay attention. If that’s all you do, eventually to conservatives you become as tiresome and predictable as any kneejerk liberal.
Which is only an issue if you care whether conservatives want to read you.
Look at his post on the tea parties. If that appeared in the comments section of Hot Air, we would have called him a concern troll. The dude is gone. Sullivan gone. BTW, if I ever start posting hate mail from right-wing idiots to show how brave I am for saying the hard truth and to get my ego assuaged by my sycophants, please get me professional help.
I think the lesson is pick your enemies wisely, because eventually they’ll define you. You’ll instinctively hate everything they like, and anything they hate… well that’s worth at least considering. There are lots of idiots out there, and you can either ignore them or focus on them and make them stronger. Charles decided to focus on right-wing idiots who made him mad, pushed back and got even more fight in response, and he kept going and now he is where he is.
Anyway, I’ll always remember him for the animated GIF of the forged Rather documents. That’s when the right-wing blogosphere first made it big. I think IMAO averaged its highest traffic ever around that time and hasn’t come close since.
Hmm… then maybe I’ve lost it.
I agree, it used to be the first blog i hit every morning but since the creationist and everything else i have moved to different blogs for my info. I agree with him on creationist and on the Alex jones and Dr paul wackoo’s, just too much in the end for me.
…and meanwhile he reads every inch of the New York Times everyday, in hopes that they someday mention him. Yep, we’ve seen this before, it’s called the McCain Syndrome. Hoping to get noticed by trashing your own people is a ridiculous illness because it’s so treatable: usually one b*tch slap to the head fixes it immediately.
He is a “converted liberal,” remember. Maybe he converted back.
Charles Johnson? Man, I dropped him a long time ago. Thanks for bringing up the bad memories. That’s the beauty of the internet. You get to “kill” people and they disappear forever. Back in the old Usenet days, all you had to do to kill someone was add them to your killfile. Nowadays, you just drop them from your RSS reader.
Too bad we can “kill” Roesgen.
Limbaugh succeeds because he doesn’t care what people think of him, he believes his principles and acts on them. Charles was successful when he wasn’t famous, now that he is, he cares what people think of him, and will decline. It seems to me that 2 things defused LGF, the victory in Iraq and Obama’s election. After that Charles seemed to lose interest in the things that defined LGF until then.
I gave up some ways back….in my view…it’s now Little Green Fuzzball. Hell no…I don’t go.
Don’t worry, Frank. If you ever “go Charles Johnson” on us, we already have the ninja monkeys trained and ready.
Yeah, I gave up on LGF, though reluctantly, a few months ago. Totally gone off the rails.
The anti-religion concern-trolls seem to be everywhere right now. I’ve stopped reading more than one blog because of it. It seems to me that there are quite a few conservatives out there who are looking for someone to blame for the last election, and they’ve decided that the Christian element is the best target. It is more than a little ridiculous. Are they really going to try to excise all Christians from the party… and somehow that will help them at the next election?
What was that old joke?
Step 1: chase away the religious.
Step 2: ???
Step 3: Win elections!!!
His anti-creationist crusade is just boring. At first I just scolled past those items – now it’s about all he does. I used to check his site daily now I rarely do.
Charles Johnson has done some very good work in the past. I hope he’ll get back to doing it.
As a conservative Christian and lifelong Republican, I have to say that this post concerns me. Are you advocating censorship of everyone who disagrees with you? Because if you are, that brings to mind the McCarthy blacklist era. That’s not what a true conservative would be for.
As someone who voted for George Bush (twice), I think you should be more concerned about Bristol Palin and how she is destroying the Republican Party.
I’m really glad you posted this. I was on Michelle Malkin’s blog yesterday evening – and decided to hit a few blogs on her blog roll.
To be honest, I haven’t really been following any blogs since about early Nov.; so I naturally went to LGF first and was shocked at his anti-fox, anti-teaparty and especially anti-Glenn Beck rants and name-calling.
I mean, Glenn Beck isn’t perfect but I identify with him 10000000000% more than I do with say Bill O’Reilly or 20 orders of magnitude of that from Matthews or Olberman.
I was truly puzzled about what had happened in the 5 or 6 months since I left.
I’m an evangelical, but I’m not a creationist – I couldn’t care less about the creation/evolution debate. And I’m anti-Ron Paul, anti-truther, so it’s not like I disagree with him on the issues he keeps hammering. Truth is, I think we need to be calling those people out and repudiating them so we’re not tarred with the same brush, the same way when the topic of Fred Phelps comes up, Christians should make it clear he isn’t one of us no matter what he calls himself. What irks me is the sneering tone he seems to take about it all – as if he expected everybody to be a bunch of asses all along, and he’s grimly pleased we didn’t let him down.
Yeah, LGF was removed from my favorites list a few months ago also. And this was after I used to post stuff there in the headlines. Don’t know what, exactly happened to his thinking, but the anti-creationism rants became boring rather quickly.
Oh, and $5 says there’ll be a sneering “don’t let the door hit you” post at LGF about this post. He publishes that hate mail so gleefully he’s bound to play this up as well.
“BTW, if I ever start posting hate mail from right-wing idiots to show how brave I am for saying the hard truth and to get my ego assuaged by my sycophants, please get me professional help.”
We won’t be able to do that for ya Frank. SarahK will kill you for being a little long before we could get you any help.
I dropped LGM some time ago. Charles was running less articles on mooslims and the like, and started to focus on “stealth creationists”. I guess Jerry Falwell and James Dobson are running about in ninja suits stalking biologists. Could this be what DHS is talking about in that memo?
Charles has also taken to deleting anyone who disagreed with him in any way. The tin foil hat tends to encourage that.
Like others, I used to like LGF but he has gotten kind of obsessed. It’s not just that he’s going off on everyone who is extreme OR who does things differently from him, he’s rude and insulting about it. And his insults aren’t particularly funny. I agree with his positions on some things but not with his single-minded fury. And his stuff on the Tea Parties showed that he had no real interest in looking at the phenomenon as a whole… he just went off on some superficial aspects of the movement.
Well, I am deeply concerned about #11’s concern as it is simply too mildly put. As a blog reader who rarely comments, I think we should politicize everything, including bloggers and their readers and commenters. In which case, it certainly would be better for all of us to constantly yell at each other over our political views that are (fortunately) being hammered into government policy in spite of the Constitution which we should all ignore in favor of deeply-held philosophical beliefs that are different from those around us.
If you get my drift – which you shouldn’t – because, like many bloggers, I’m not making much sense, which is OK since I don’t have to. After all, it is all about ME and how vital I am to the daily operation of our democracy and not about how to run our various “governments” (including State and Feder) according to precisely defined rules that are just too restrictive, at least in my important opinion.
However, Socrates and many here do make me laugh. Oh, and sometimes Frank (when he’s not Tweeging). And usually Harvey and Basil. And spacemonkey is some kind of invisible being that hardly shows up. I’m really concerned about that, too.
I’m with you 100% Frank.
I used to read LGF on a daily basis… not I only check it out every few months when I see a link to it and I remember the site exists.
Yeah, CJ has gone down in quality recently. now he is in a pissing match with glenn beck. whatever.
He still does stand up against terrorism so there is that. But i mean sheesh, everything is either 1) criticizing the right in some respect, or 2) defending obama. 20% of the time is he hitting on the stuff that originally drew me to him, if that much.
He even thought it was unfair to criticize Obama’s response to the piracy thing. For two days they kept that captain and obama said, “don’t shoot even if you have a bead on all of them.” things turned out well, but the standing order in any hostage situation is, if you can kill all the terrorists, do it. Sheesh.
And his defense of Obama’s bow… seriously, wtf?
No, wait, i should correct myself. As you guys pointed out, it is utterly unfair to say Obama bowed. He bent his knee, so technically that was a courtsy.
Seriously, he should just change his blog name to “nothing to see here” because that seems to be his reaction to every obama administration screw up.
Glad to see someone else was noticing this. I have had the LGF feed on the reader for a long time, but it’s just gotten to be unbearable. OK, we get it, you don’t believe in creationism. I started having to re-read everything, thinking I was on some lib DK like blog, and just missed a joke. Unfortunately, the only joke is CJ and his blog these days.
Relieved that I’m not going crazy. I, too, have noticed this trend with Charles over the last several months. The final straw for me was his stance on the Tea Parties. I came home from ours here in Oklahoma City filled with more hope for America than I’ve felt in a long time. People were nice, polite, well-groomed – equipped with mostly hand made signs – they seemed to represent just about every cross section of America but had the common theme of being against sending our children/grandchildren the bill (sell them into slavery) to keep power-brokers in power.
” DKA says:
April 17th, 2009 at 2:37 pm ”
Yah, his tea party coverage is why I decided to stop reading him just two days ago.
Also, I would have been at the same tea party as you, if not for my classes. Stillwater didn’t have one, for whatever reason, and I didn’t have time to go to the city.
I got banned today for a “dramatic” goodbye post. I commented a couple times afterwards and was accused of melting down/
Here’s my goodby post:
“Charles, I am not sure why the main thrust of LGF has moved from combating Jihad to combating conservatives you don’t like (and vice versa)
I have been here since the beginning. I started reading, and sparsely commenting in Sept 2001. I have to say that I have been gradually moving away since LGF simply isn’t interested in what I came here for anymore. You have done great work, and I can not say how much I appreciated what you stood for in the past. But since you are moving on, so will I.
Peace.”
Well, in retrospect I can see why he banned me, that’s a vile insulting post by me.
Bill, you’re a demagogue, that’s what. Repent!
Charles definitely has a short leash nowadays.
Bill, at least you got to comment first – I didn’t even do that. I got banned one night for the crime of voting some comments up/down in one of the “Creationists r teh suck” posts.
I don’t think we should support whack-jobs either, it makes us look crazy by association. However, I also think you have to look at what works. How much time to Democrats spend debunking crazies like Michael Moore? Has not debunking him caused them to lose any votes at all?
Best thing to do with crazy is ignore it, because constantly bringing them up just emboldens them and gives them a platform.
Frank, I don’t think you’ve lost it. But you’ve hit the nail on the head with this post. Charles seems to be, at the moment, purging anything he can think of out of his perfection dream. Unfortunately we aren’t in a perfect world, and all parties (and families!) have their kooks. And even some kooks have some good ideas every once in a while. I think what really sealed his insanity is Beck’s sneering “Jazz musician” comment; Charles just lost it. It’s quite a train wreck over there at LGF right now. Good luck, Charles – you’ve done some great work in the past – but it’s going to be hard to separate those darn imperfect “hypocritical Christians” from the Republican party. And it stands to reason that quite a few of those are Creationists. I think you’re going to have to start your own party.
The latest Know Thy Enemy is evidence enough that the above statement is false. 😉
I can be dense sometimes, but somebody’s going to have to define Creationist for me; for I might be looking for an exit before someone says ” Get a rope.”, and “Hangings too good for him.” I also don’t get the Ron Paul stuff, so maybe it’s me.
What killed LGF was that it became less about jihad, conservatism, etc., and became all about Charles Johnson’s ego. The thrust of it is, here’s an article I found, here’s my opinion. Now, I want to see upvotes and thousands of people nodding in agreement in the comments or I start banning. So in other words, LGF isn’t about the topics covered, it’s about Charles. They way he snarls threats at people if they dissent is really psychotic. I genuinely believe the boy needs help.
Yep, I pulled him off of my blog favorites a couple of days ago. I’m not sure what he is trying to do now, other than deflect liberal critics. It’s too bad really…I used to enjoy his site when he stuck to commenting on radical Islam.
Because if you are, that brings to mind the McCarthy blacklist era.
McCarthy wanted to clear our government of loyalty risks. He had nothing to do with any blacklisting. That was in Hollywood over a decade earlier.
I found LGF through a Front Page Mag blog round-up article and LGF led me here. I never really followed LGF. Guess I’m one of the lucky ones as I never had to witness the degradation of a once proud and mighty blog for Justice.
Should I challange Charles (why not charlie????) to a duel?
I’ll offer him a vintage 1835, gorgeous, ivory-inlaid musket revolver.
Because I gave this beauty up, I’ll just have to bring a drab, matte black .45 revolver, 15 round clip, with a laser sight. Sigh. I do get to empty the magazine though, don’t I?
I think this is a very nice offer by me.
I, too, used to read LGF every day; it was my primary news source for a while. I left more than a year ago, when Johnson started going after the Christian right, and creationists.
Years of careful study have led me to side with the creationists, but I don’t mind when people disagree. I can respect a difference of opinion. What I can’t respect is when someone who clearly has done no research in the field calls me and those who believe as I do idiots and crazy. It’s one thing to disagree, it’s another entirely to label those of your allies who disagree with you as The Enemy.
Science is all about questioning your own beliefs, and comparing your theories to the available evidence, to see whose theory matches best. Once you stop doing that, and start demonizing your opponents as “stupid” and “dangerous”, you’ve strayed off the path of science, and into the domain of prejudice and closed-mindedness. And that is something up with which I will not put.
Yeah, right, the world created itself.
Hey, when you’re feeling down and full of doubt….
NUKE THE MOON !!
HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA !!
Why so serious ?
Krig — and a lot of others are right. It’s not so much the opinions, or even the debate. I think that Chas. has demonized those who simply disagree. We’ll always have the pulsing memo.
No more LGF for me. For a while. Not even Lion’s Gate Films.
Good Analysis Frank. I agree.
He seemed to go from Exposing things to Attacking things as a general theme.
I stopped reading LGF a long time ago. No real reason, I just kind of drifted away. After the Tea Party (mine was in Richmond VA – approximately 3000 people!) I was interested to see what the blogs were saying about it. I saw the LGF link in my bookmarks, and realized I hadn’t actually looked at that site in many months. I always used to love Charle’s posts, though I didn’t always agree with him. So I figured I’d go see what he had to say. I was absolutely amazed…I even wondered for a moment if he had maybe sold the blog to someone else, like maybe the KosKids, while I was gone. It’s not anywhwere near the same site it used to be, and that is so sad.
Oh well. I’ll go back to ignoring it. At least I still have IMAO to keep me company! 😀

Don’t worry, dude, I believe it’s called “getting and maintaining a full-time job.”
This can be problematic for anybody’s internet activities, but it’s nothing to be ashamed of. For what it’s worth, I’ve been here since near the beginning, left for a while when I thought it had gone astray a little bit, came back surfing around here a year and a half ago, and believe it’s picked up again.
Seriously, though, the thing that hooked me back in again, more than anything else, was Super Ego. You may call it pulp, but it was damn fun pulp and a lot of it was very well done. It might be problematic if some of it came from other places–I have no idea whether it did, but that’s the only reason I can think of for not doing something with that.
Try to get a publisher to pick it up.
–
Do it.
–
You have a book there. A good one.
[Thanks, but it’s only half a novel length and would have to be completely rewritten. Maybe I can go back to it sometime. -Ed.]
All that matters is being correct, and he is.
Righties have turned into a bunch of emo fags just like the lefties were. Though lefties are still a bunch of emo fags even after winning so…
Glenn Beck always had that tone in his voice that suggested he was a click away from completely losing his shit. And then he did. Now he cries and writes poems about his pain cave.
Yeah. I dropped LGF a long long time ago. It just got so tedious and didn’t seem at all conser ative. I cut it out of my bookmarks a couple years ago. I dumped polipundit, redstste, and peggy noonan within the last year as well.
You know, I was just thinking about dropping LGF as well. I thought I was making this up in my head, but he really has been going left lately. It seems like he wants to be considered the “voice of reason” from the right, but he’s instead kissing up to the left in the hopes they’ll accept him as an equal.
Whenever he goes into his creationist jabber, I simply tune him out. Also, he has been attacking Pam Geller a lot recently over at Atlas Shrugged. While there have been a few reasons to disagree with her, he seems to make liking her a capital offense.
Plus, his followers really are sycophants. I hguess it’s hard to be honest when you have someone”s lips pressed up on your ass.
I don’t understand the fuss.
I believe in God, but not because of some biological or geological fingerprint He left in the world, (although that would be Very Cool).
But I have to believe that rational thought has a real connection to the universe perceived by my senses, or I can believe in nothing at all.
LGF smells of academia..that baston of cesspool thinking that got us into this mess. Russ, Malkin, Coulter, Beck, Hannity. I left out O’Reilly because he is such a panderer to Muslim Barry. I quit watching O’Reilly a year ago when he shafted Michele Malkin.
“So yesterday I saw he had a headline with Napolitano in the title, and I thought, “This should be good. ”
Darn Teach ME to click too fast I thought the same thing when I saw Napolitano on CG spaced over the Andrew
He lost me when he started dumping on “Gates of Vienna”.
He’s too angry.
Funny, just before stumbling on to this blog, I had just deleted LGF from my bookmarks because of his incessant rants on creationists. Nope, I’m not one, but anyone believing this stuff will never produce any useful science…so I really don’t care.
I’ll always think the site for their bringing down Rather and gang. But, LFG is evidently a one note wonder.
LGF has been gone from my bookmarks for a while now too. It just seems since Obama took over, he’s been vehemently going after conservatives. Hmmm… maybe someone took a taste of the Kool-Aid? LGF used to be a good blog, but I can’t figure out for the life of me why they went in the direction that they did.
While I completely agree with Charles Johnson’s stance on creationism, Ron Paul, White Supremacists and a lot of the other issues he blogs about, I have to say that I too have been visiting his site less and less these days. Hard to say why that is, but part of the reason is that lately he comes across as a single issue blogger on the issue of right wing extremism. It’s not like there is a lack of material on left wing extremism for him to write about as well, he has just not chosen to focus on it lately.
It’s his blog, so he can of course write about whatever he wants, but I also choose what I want to read. And his blog has not been one of those things I have chosen to read much lately.
doesn’t like creationism eh? hmmm – maybe thats cause he’s a SECRET UNDERCOVER AGENT OF SATAN!!!! …. I mean it all fits if you think about it.
Meghan McCain syndrome. The media pays attention to “maverick” conservatives and it can be intoxicating. BUT, you are not allowed to revert. Ask John.
“LGF” has become code for “don’t bother wasting your time.” If it folded tomorrow, it wouldn’t matter a whit to the conservative blogosphere, and even less to the world at large.
Years ago, before registration was even required, people had like-minded conversations with intelligence and civility. Disagreements were respectful and the discourse was generally courteous thanks to posters like: “realwest”, “Spiny Norman”, “Ward Cleaver” and “Kragar”.
Trolls weren’t welcome, but a lot of people got a kick out of Gordon’s (a.k.a. nodrog) naive, left wing ranting. Most trolls though dared not enter the comments section because their intellectual dishonesty, and canned talking points, would be quickly exposed. “Nekama’s Troll Hammer” was often brought to bear on many a moonbat’s head.
🙂
Probably because of Charles’ success in documenting the absolute folly of militant Islam, radical Islam, and plain old misogynistic Islam; more trolls began posting and registration became required. Things stayed on a pretty even keel until too many newbie’s were allowed in (at the rate of about 130 at a time). They brought in a distinct lack of maturity, a distinct lack of courtesy, and a lack of respect for what LGF once was: orderly.
Flame wars became more common.
Big design changes to the site also began to take place. Charles broadened his topic selection (to appeal to a wider audience?), created spin off links, a chat room and voting on articles/comments. IMAO, it became an information overload.
Charles had created a monster that morphed into something the old timers didn’t recognize. His decision to not focus on jihad related topics was a bad call. Stick with what works I say.
Charles obviously wanted to grow the site by opening registration at least once a week, but he couldn’t screen the new “hatchlings” ahead of time. The answer seemed to be to overtly filter out the people with whom he disagreed by banning them for almost anything. Whereas before he generally stayed above the fray, but would occasionally referee disputes, now he was neck deep in it and causing a lot of strife himself.
To his credit, Charles did help nail Dan Rather. And, any conservative blogger that has a libtard “watch” site created in response to what they are doing can’t be all bad.
When Charles felt the need to distance himself from “Gates of Vienna” because of their perceived anti-Semitism, it seemed like a wise move. When he began harping on creationism/I.D. versus evolution, not so much.
Later LGF, I have to go rearrange my sock drawer.
Paul said:
“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man sows, that shall he also reap.”
Modern vernacular:
“What goes around, comes around.”
Soon after the time Ahneedadinnerjacket was planning to come to Columbia U and wanted to see Ground Zero is about the time I noticed CJ losing it. So I left. Zoas are people too.
LG Who? Football What? Nevah heard of em! I pity the fool who succumbs to the kool aid.. they will enlighten themselves out of existence……..

I gave up on LGF when Charles shut down the Lizard Lounge. Charles is unwilling to allow opinions with which he disagrees no matter how lucidly or politely they are profered. He simply banishes those that he disagrees with. His perpensity to do this has spawned a cadre of loyal sycophants that engage in endless provocative baiting of anyone that might hold a position other than that of the Great and Powerful Charles. Should any honest debate occur, these same miscreants run to Charles and have the people they’ve been bullying banished. It’s turning into an echo chamber with the sole function of stroking Charles’ ego. Not worth engaging there anymore.
MAN, it’s such a relief to hear someone else say what I’ve been thinking for months and months now. I just deleted my LGF bookmark a few weeks ago, but hadn’t really been reading it for months anyway. I asked DH if he minded the deletion, and he replied, “Sure, go ahead, he’s just annoying now–I can get annoyed almost anywhere, I don’t need a bookmark for it.”
I have been wondering what has been going on with LGF. I respect Mr. Johnson because of the incredible work that he has done, but I haven’t been reading his posts in quite a long time. I will stop by once in awhile. I hope he is just going through a phase or something.
“There are already plenty of blogs focused on constantly exposing bad things about the right-wing”
So you admit there are some bad elements in the right wing, yet you prefer those elements be coddled? Come on, you can do better than that.
[You’re retarded and unable to follow a simple point.
If you’re conservative, then I just did my part not coddling you. -Ed.]
I’ll add my echo to those who have become disenchanted with LGF. It’s all about “Charles in Charge” now, which is a pity. I still visit it daily for the Linkviewer and occasionally post, but it’s lost it’s lustre. BTW, this is a pretty funny video on the topic.
I still go to LGF, mainly for the linkviewer, but I agree with everyone here who thinks his focus has become to critical of the right, and as for creationism, just off the rails. As someone who believes in evolution who lives and sleeps with a creationist, I have learned one very valuable lesson: Don’t talk about it. Charles would do well to do the same. I occasionally read his posts, but the criticism of the right, the banning of Mama Winger last year (I don’t know why), and the high focus on creationism make it hard to go much past the linkviewer most days.
Blatantly scorning Creationism is a giant clue for someone who is at risk of Going Liberal. Hard-headed stubbornness and a devotion to facts are helpful to be a YEC in this day, just like being a Conservative. But take the path of least resistance on one, and you might well find yourself pulling the Moderate Mobile along with Brooks and Parker a few years down the line. (You have to pull it because the MM has no engine.) And after that, you might soon be on welfare.
Charles has gone off the deep end with his pettiness and paranoia. The internet is littered with former lizards who were banned for simply challenging Charles’ opinion on something. I mean isn’t that what political discourse is all about? And what blogs are for?
He’s a little tyrant, holding court with his adoring sycophants, who can’t even see the reality that he now censors opposing viewpoints more than KOS.
But it’s his site to run into the ground as he sees fit. Good riddance.
@68 Mazeman.
Can’t add much to that. It’s easy to see that when someone puts an opposing viewpoint in the comments, the ‘Herd’ come forth like a bunch of Pod Born Squealing Body Snatchers. I’d be embarrassed to be riding herd over that thing.
I drifted away from LGF when the comment section started to get stoopid. I don’t really “get” the whole creationism/ID fight. I don’t agree with creationists either, but I can’t see picking a fight with them. I mean, I can’t see how God gives a crap whether I have a BLT for lunch, but I don’t feel the need to ridicule the not-insignificant number of people who think He does.
I think we can all agree that Vegans are the real enemy.
I can’t remember when I left LGF but it started when CJ posted an article by Christopher Hitchens bashing Robert Spencer for writing a book saying that Christianity was a better religion than Islam and noting his approval of Hitchens view. That caused my ears to perk up so when he switched the focus from Islamism to ID that came to my mind immediately. The way I see it he’s nothing but another anti-religious bigot.
What a relief it was to visit this posting and to read the comments. I used to go to LGF every day, first thing. I will admit that I’m a creationist, but it’s hardly an obsession of mine. I understand how, if you’re not coming from a religious point of view as I am, it’s the logical thing to believe in evolution. I am also NOT into abusing people on the web, and I pride myself that I keep it short and polite. I wrote a very restrained and polite comment questioning why Charles thought a creationist point of view disqualified a politician from being a serious presidential candidate, and HE DELETED IT! I’d never experienced that before.
Never went back, and will never go back. There’s way too many places to go on the web to be treated like that. In my opinion, if people are polite and use reasonable arguments, deleting their posts is unforgiveable, and really low-class
I knew I wasn’t losing it. LGF was my co-homepage with Drudge. I’m busy as you all are and I need fast facts (Drudge) and then fast fact coherent discussion (LGF). I don’t have the time to post and skipped the creationist tirade but began to take notice of a left wing bent well before the DHS report. Something I know a little about and we’ll leave it at that. I posted for I think the fourth time in five years last Saturday regarding this and CJ responded with a very flippant and antagonizing remark. When I took the time to post material that backed up a lot of folks assertions on the site, CJ told me to piss off, vaporized this very important information, pulled the pin and left the foxhole. I wouldn’t have been surprised if he lost 1000 folks that day.
All I have to say at this point is CJ will no longer have to suffer through my site clicks. The last thing I’ll say is that the way he is treating folks can only be performed and completed safely from behind a monitor.
