Consitution? We don’t need no stinking Constitution

Those wacky Illinois politicians. And this one’s not even from Chicago.

Rep. Phil Hare (D-IL-17) says he doesn’t worry about the Constitution (tip: Allahpundit)

When he swore to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic,” he must have been talking about defending against himself.

  1. Comrad Basil, do you not know your place as a slave, er, servant, er, citizen in the New Obama Order? What is the Constitution, but a piece of paper created by old white men to suggest some guidence, nothing more. Ask this again and will pay you a visit.

Funny hat off. Democrats are such arrogant a@@es.

  2. I keep saying we get the leaders we deserve. How many people cheat on their taxes, or their significant other? How many people would keep money they found on the ground, or change they didn’t deserve from the store? How many lie daily to the people they love or their boss? How many people take sick days when they aren’t sick, do the smallest amount of work possible ( and still keep their jobs)? How many are only looking out for number one and to hades with anything or anybody that gets in their way.

Hence the politicians we send to Washington. We discard anyone who actually tries to live with integrity as being too rigid, too religious, too intolerant, in effect, too good. After all if we choose the dregs ” we’re bad but at least we’re better then ……..” I wish it did not seem so, but as a flawed, inconsistent human being I realize it’s hard to do the right things. As with some minority groups within our society, ignoring the problems doesn’t help. We have to, as any addict knows, admit there is a problem before we can address it.

And we, in the country, have a problem. (yes I know, end of sermon, thank goodness)

  3. Hare’s district includes union-heavy towns – Decatur, Quincy, Galesburg, Moline, Rock Island. He was elected in 2008 when the Illinois GOP in it’s finite wisdom allowed him to run unopposed. This year he is up against a decent candidate, Bobby Schilling.

Last I saw Hare had an approval rating of about 39%. The beatings taken by Cat & Deere these past 2 years won’t help him This video won’t help either.

  4. What Marko said, but I’d add one more to it: How many people hate Congress but love their Congressman?

We keep seeing polls about the dismally poor approval rating of Congress in general, but we keep voting these Nimrods in. That’s partly because we don’t want to sacrifice any pork coming to our district, but we feel that other districts should. (The power and perks of incumbency are also factors in re-election.)

I haven’t seen a poll comparing respondents’ approval of Congress in general versus their approval of their own Congressperson in specific. Such a poll would be telling.

  6. 2400 pages x 1 minute per page x 3 readings = 7200 minutes.

    60 minutes = 1 hour; 24 hours = 1 day

He spent 120 hours, or 5 days, reading a bill that was not available to be read 72 hours, or 3 days before he voted on it.

  7. so – 5 days of non stop 24 hour reading? hats off to the guy – My personal best for staying awake is maybe 24 hours but that time was not spent reading and re reading boring government health bills – this guy must be some kind of superhero.

  8. Even to read that many pages ONE time would take the average person almost 100 hours of concentrated reading and study. I am dead on positive that dipsh*t didn’t read it once, much less 3 times…fookin’ liar!

  9. Tried to email this jackass but I put in the wrong zip code and now can’t get in (he only condescends to speak at the peons in his district) so I will have to wait till I get home to tell him what I think of him.

  10. Not sayin’ he’s a ped either but at second 9 into this clip he mentions a little boy, “The point is for me, when…when a little boy…” Jeezle peezle, where was he going with THAT?

  11. No props for the interviewer/reporter/whatever guy? He was brilliant.
Very professional, did not use any of the multiple curse words I used while watching the video.
Practically thanked the Congressmen for being honest about being an oath-breaking, ignorant liar.
    ‘It’s unbelievably clear’

    Very classy. Top form. Kudos.
