Random Thoughts

I’m almost convinced daylight savings was invented out of a hatred of programmers.

Seems like a good day to point and laugh at Kos. In other words, a Tuesday.

I forget: What happened when someone called me on the phone during my favorite TV show before DVR?

Thinking about TV watching habits pre-DVR, I vaguely remember the phrase “Did I miss anything?”

Now I head to bed alone. I lost out to sparkly vampires.

  1. -“When in Rome” is a fine idea unless your referring to the actual Roman practices of molesting children, having a debt fueled bankrupt empire, trading democracy for kings, invading your neighbors, or making a militant state religion based off a group of people that a few years earlier you were literally using as human torches to light your streets.

-Next time your party is in charge and you want to create a new law or legal authority precedent or a random department instead of thinking about how your party is going to use it ask yourself all the treacherous ways the other party could use it against you.

-The only way womens field hockey could be any sexier is if you told me they were all Lesbians

-Thanks to Biden the left now knows the cringe feeling the right felt whenever Bush would start talking on TV.

-Does the left honestly thinking Sarah Palin is not able to replace Joe Biden???

-Your Momma is so stupid she failed out of a communist reeducation camp.

    (paraphrase a lol from yesterday)
-A spoonful of welfare helps the statism go down.

-Is it an accident statism and satanism is so similar in spelling? After all they have such opposite rhetoric but identical ends.

-Daylight savings time is bullcrap. We take the part of the year where the sun goes down the shortest and move it up an hour. We almost all would trade an hour of dark in the morning for an extra hour of evening daylight during the dark winter. It would be like if I had bad leg so my idea too it would be to get crutches and only walk on the bad leg.

  2. What are the seven best days to laugh at Kos? (Hint, they are the same as the great Irish-American drinking Holidays)…..Correct Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saterday, Sunday.

Real vampires don’t sparkle…unless you dust them with magnisium powder before hitting them with a flame thrower. Granny Weatherwax knew how to deal with vampires, force them have the urge to drink…tea.

  3. “Now I head to bed alone. I lost out to sparkly vampires.”

Oh no! Is Sarah K a Twilight mom-to-be? You poor bastard! I swear, vampires for teeny boppers…

“Seems like a good day to point and laugh at Kos. In other words, a Tuesday.”

Err, it’s Wednesday, Frank. Still a good day to laugh at Kos, though.

  4. I’m almost convinced daylight savings was invented out of a hatred of programmers.

    Here’s how I’d do it:

    if [ “DayLightSavingsTime” ] ; then
    SpringForward
    else
    FallBack
    fi

To be honest, there are 24 hours in the day, whether we are “saving” an hour or not. With this in mind, let us not be surprised that Democrats were in power when it was first implemented.

  5. “Now I head to bed alone. I lost out to sparkly vampires.”

When your marital situation has sunk to the point that your wife is using the excuse that she wants to watch “Twilight” rather than come to bed with you, it’s a very bad sign. Even worse if it’s the sequel.

  6. @Mythilt Hello fellow Terry Pratchett fan! I love love love “Mort” I have enjoyed it so much I haven’t been able to get through most of the others. The series is clever and charming.

If anyone is interested in taking the series for a spin. Two of the Discworld books have been made into movies, “Colour of Magic” with Rudy/Samwise and “The Hogfather”. I think a third movie is happening at some point.

  7. Burma, I can’t help you there, but I thought I would offer some advice to anyone interested. The cure for annoying hiccups is to take a teaspoon of white distilled vinegar, put it in your mouth, let your mouth spit it out ASAP because your mouth knows it shouldn’t have that crap in there, and Voila! the hiccups stop.

  8. shiggz, “Going Postal” has been broadcast in the UK, not sure when here in the US.
And Soul Music, Troll Bridge (A short story w/ Gingis Cohen meeting a troll), Wyrd Systers, and Lords and Ladies have all also been released as fan films / animations etc.

Me, I’m hoping Raimi’s next project is Wee Free Men (He has the rights, but the script is causing some problems.)

  9. Not just daylights savings time. I actually find that to be rather easy to deal with compared to things like leap years, the varying month lengths, the fact that there’s not an even number of weeks in a month/year, and that time is so arbitrary (60, 60, 24, 7, etc.).

Honestly, the one American thing I hate about America is our system of measurements for just about everything.

  10. @ Mythilt Thank You! Did not know “going postal” aired yet. Cant wait to watch it tonight! I can usually hunt stuff down. Found dvd for soul music and wyrd sisters. No luck on troll bridge and lords and ladies. I have bbc dramatized versions of guard guards, mort, small gods, and wyrd sisters. Those are like the next best thing. About the next movie as long as “Death” is in it I will have no complaints.

You might appreciate we watch quite a bit of UKTV these days.

    -DR who
(we were worried about the new Dr. after David Tennent but this season has been awesome)
    -outnumbered
    -peep show
    -QI
    -Mitchell and Webb Look
    -IT crowd
-yes minister (which even airs on my local PBS)
    -Hyperdrive
    -Red dwarf

To name a few. Obviously, I am a big David Mitchell fan. Did you catch my joke yesterday about him being on the supreme court? (because Kagan looks like him, lol)

  11. Frank, you’re reaching the wrong conclusion about Daylight Savings Time. When it was invented, Ada Lovelace pretty much had computer programming all to herself. Daylight Savings Time was invented out of hatred of everybody.
