The Dick Van Dyke Show

Black and white TV

So, the president thought the GOP convention was from the era of black & white TV.

Lots of thoughts ran through my mind when I read that.

First was, how would he know?

All of NBC’s programming was in color in 1965. The other two commercial networks, ABC and CBS, were broadcasting all prime-time in color the next TV season, with daytime following by Spring 1968. Even NET (now PBS) was all-color by Spring ’68.

Obama didn’t even move to this country until three years later. So, how would he know?

Reruns? TV shows from an earlier time?

So, the GOP reminded him of loving families where everyone works together to make things better for everyone?

And that’s supposed to be an insult?

  1. If I thought Romney could take us back to the 1950’s I’d do whatever it is I could legally do to get him elected. Back to a time when people knew what integrity was and practiced it, back when children born out of wedlock was a bad thing, back when teachers educated students in reading, writing and arithmetic and parents educated children on morals and life. A time where trash was something you put out at the curb, not something that comes into your home through the TV or computer, a time when people talked to each other in person, not texted people on cell phones. A time when people cared more about doing the right thing than doing what everyone else was doing. 1950’s Dick Van Dyke show vs Family Guy. No contest, I’ll take Mr Van Dyke.
