So, there is a new trailer for Man of Steel and it is looking like it could be pretty awesome:
It’s hard to do a good Superman story, and it’s for the same reasons it’s hard for a video game to be challenging when you put on god mode. Superman is pretty much invincible and has like every super power (except for talking to fish), so it’s like how do you challenge him?
Anyway, it’s good that Zod is the villain, because what a good Superman movies needs is someone Superman can super punch without holding back because super punching is awesome (and we get some glimpses of that at the end of the trailer). I mean, what did Superman get to fight in the last movie? An island? That movie was so boring.
And I’m not sure on Amy Adams as Lois Lane. Lois is supposed to be tough and Amy Adams doesn’t seem like she can pull off tough. Still, I really like her as an actress, so we’ll see.
Now when do we get the Aquaman movie?

Since Superman has given up his citizenship to become a citizen of the world I have no interest in him, his franchise or his “Brand”. Sorry Superman my money is saved to watch Tony Stark blow stuff up. He may be arrogant, he may be a smart mouth but he’s loyal.
It’s not that hard to do a good Superman story. You just need a writer that understands the character. Unfortunately, with the movies at least, we tend to get a stereotypical “Hollywood elite” to write him who thinks the character is outdated because they’ve never read a single comic in their lives.
“Since Superman has given up his citizenship to become a citizen of the world I have no interest in him”
They undid that.
I agree that it is not that hard to do a good superman story, but Hollywood has yet to do a really good one like they have with a lof of other comic book characters.
All Star Superman for instance was very good. There have been several others too in recent years in the comics, but that was the one that jumps out as the most traditional superman story that get near universal praise.
The sad thing is that Hollywood can’t write good stories to a lot of minor superhero characters when they get their own films that are a lot less powerful than Superman. See Ghost Rider, Elektra, Punisher, Catwoman, etc.
I’m glad they’re re-doing the origin story. I seem to have forgotten.
I do like spaceships that shoot, though, so there’s a plus.
We will finally learn the greatest secret of the Universe in this one-how Supes shaves his invincible beard. DC has never managed that one.
In my new book I mention a new Aquaman movie in the theaters–not saying 100% that it was an IMAO-inspired moment, but not saying it wasn’t either.
Aquaman: You will believe a man can swim.
What actor would be willing to only be Aquaman, since the typecasting would probably be insurmountable.
(Although Patrick Duffy managed to survive being the Man From Atlantis…)
When the gay-rights losers sue DC under Title IX for not having enough diversity in their superhero movies.
They did SO show how Superman shaves! John Byrne did that in The Man of Steel…I think in the issue where Lex Luthor is introduced. Superman uses his heat vision on a small piece of reflective metal from his spaceship to fry his whiskers off.
Now…why Lois wasn’t curious about the burning hair smell is a good question.
Happy 75th anniversary, Superman!

In the pre-Crisis days Superman’s beard didn’t grow while under a yellow sun.
Do I get my Dork Merit Badge?
