  1. And technicium is what the patient is given when given a “nuclear stress test” on their heart. (My extended family has a lot of cardiac issues, to say the least.) It’s radioactive and made in Europe, and it decays in less than 48 hours so it’s expensive and your insurance company doesn’t want to spend the money if you aren’t old enough. It’s an artificial element even though it’s atomic number is 43. Isaac Asimov talked about its instability in one of his non-fiction works from the ’70s.
