Harvey posted the Honest Trailer for it the other day. This is just a list of everything wrong with it.
What’s it? Blade Runner. The original. Well, one of those seven originals.
Not sure if I’m going to see Blade Runner 2049. At least, not sure if I’m going to a theater to see it. I saw the original in a theater. I was underwhelmed. Watched it since then on TV (Showtime or something) and it kinda grew on me. I now own both the original theatrical release and the Final Cut version.
Maybe I’m just lacking in culture, but I’d just as soon stick to the original theatrical release. To me, they aren’t two completely different films. The whole “Deckard might be a Replicant” thing was made apparent with the Rachael question to Deckard about if he ever took the Voigt-Kampff test. The scene with Tom Cruise’s unicorn didn’t add anything. On the other hand, taking out Stanley Kubrick’s driving scene didn’t remove anything. I thought the narration helped understand Deckard more (his attitude about Bryant, for instance). Harrison Ford and Ridley Scott hated it, but it did give it a film noir feel.
Enough about Blade Runner. What’s been on your mind? Got something you’d like to share? It’s Thursday Night Open Thread and time for you to take control of things.
Who wants to start?
