  1. A lot of recent Japanese comics have followed the formula of starting with a protagonist who dies, then reincarnates in a sword-and-sorcery fantasy world with some sort of magic superpower. Most of the ones I’ve found are fairly dull. However, I came across one with a gimmick that I believe the other commentators here will enjoy: The “magic superpower” that the protagonist gets is… he remembers his previous life, where he was a professional machinist & firearms enthusiast. Thus, he recreates various models of rifle & shotgun in a world where crossbows & magic wands were the only ranged weapons anyone ever knew.

If you’re interested, you can read some of it through the link below. Be warned, though, it’s targeted at teenage boys, and doesn’t hesitate to use sex appeal to draw in readers. It’s just barely not pr0n; definitely not safe for work. Also, the panels and speech bubbles are ordered from right-to-left, since it’s translated from Japanese.

    The title is Gun-Ota.
