I think you’re right. A few years ago, I read a news story on the air about a guy who had a less than common last name, who was arrested for a shooting incident in a small city. Well, the girlfriend of another man–who had the same first and last name, was about the same age as the other man, and lived not too far away from the other–called and asked that a clarification be reported.
As opposed to Dubya, who got a DWI in 1980, then swore off drinking, and was still portrayed as a raging alcoholic by the liberals throughout his presidency.

Well he was involved in a drunk driving accident so that automatically qualifies him as Democrat Presidential material right there.
