I don’t mess with cats but I did just recently rescue a baby gecko about 1.5 inches long I found in my house. I named him Oscar and played with him for 2 days and released him back in the wild (my backyard).
We used to use our cats to help catch the anoles that would inevitably squiggle into our house in Hawaii. They would play with the tails when they fell off. If they were lucky we would catch them and put them back in the wild. If not, the cats got a brief toy.
I always thought my wifes cat was a communist..constantly chanting..” Mao…Mao…Mao.” Then the portrait and mini red book got dropped off from Amazon..
Called the tipline for the RCMP to rat it out,but couldnt understand the foreign girl at the call centre.

So that was the delay in getting my insurance quote…did you put him back close to his car?
