RAML [High Praise!] emailed me to tell me that it was now possible to get an NRA Lifetime Membership for only $300.
After Googling around, I kept reading forum discussions about whether this was a legit offer. Also, there’s nothing about it on the NRA site.
Regarding my concerns, RAML replied with the following:
I could not find a website to verify the offer so I went dirrect to nra.com, worked down to the bottom of the sign-up page, dialed the number, and ASKED for the $300 for lifetime member offer. I believe the advertising is done for this deal, although the deal itself has been extended for an unknown period of time (guess because of the Obama gun grab).
Below is the number you should end up finding on the very bottom of the NRA sign up page:
Join By Phone. Call 1-877-NRA-2000. Monday – Friday from 8am to 9pm. Saturday from 9am to 6pm.
So, if you want it, call and ask, and you’ll get it.
However, it’s probably safe to assume that this offer could expire at any time without notice, so no guarantees.
Yes, it’s a totally legitimate offer. Basically, they have historically rolled the offer of some level of “sale” life memberships to people they thought might be interested in upgrading. Usually it only comes in every few years, and you’re invited to upgrade yourself and members of your family. However, thanks to the interwebz, people started spreading this news any time they got an offer. Because of the surge in interest, they have kept the offer open. There’s no telling when it might expire at this point, but the more people who take advantage of it, the longer it will likely stay open.
Also, for anyone who will be near Houston for their annual meeting in a few weeks, they offer discounted life memberships and half price upgrades to other levels, as well. Those are discounted far less often.

it’s legit… too late for me but becoming a member is only part of the exercise… they do still need money to do the work they do.

I too am a lifer . If they didn’t tell you, expect two to three months before the paper work gets done because of the response
If you are already a lifer then double check because they regularly offer discounts on the upper levels of Life Membership (Endowment, Patron, Benefactor). I’m going to move up here soon for $250 or 350 (I forget which it is) instead of the usual $1000 or more. For me it’s just one part of sending the money for the work they do.

If you type $300 nra membership into the search bar of your browser ( i use Google Chrome) the list will show a link for “stand and fight Cheaper than dirt and NRA join together” open that page and click the link on the bottom and takes you to a NRA membership signup page offering discounts on all memberships, 1 year 3 year 5year and yes the life membership for $300.
it also states this offer will end on 5/2/2013 hope this helps and YES THIS IS A VALID OFFER FROM THE NRA
Whew! I was getting concerned. I took the offer despite just re-upping for 5yrs to help the cause. I hadn’t heard a word (other than my CC bill) for nearly a month. I wasn’t too worried about the money (despite very tight finances), as I’ve been burned before and the $300 is gone either way, but I really, REALLY didn’t want to find out some enemy of our freedom had my money.
As of today (4/23) they still have the offer up through Glenn Beck’s site. I went there 1st when I decided to see if I had been stung, and they even have a cookienote telling me I already am a Life Member.

The current lifetime membership price on Glenn’s website is now $750 (normally $1000). Still trying to find it for the $300.
@10 – From what I’ve read around the internet, the best way to get the $300 offer is to call them and ask for it
