The fact that China would be responsible for building them pretty much means the brand is over. It’s an in-your-face right wing vehicle. No one who drives one or aspires to would want to trust China with the quality of the vehicle or the profits from its sale. It’s just another technology transfer so that the company who bought it can build better vehicles for China’s military.
I’m sure if Obama was in the loop, he approved the sale.
Uh, hold on…it’s not on there….uh, well, I figure…uh…that if….uh, the Iranians – where is it? – want to, uh, take nukes, uh….yeah, I see it now, no, wait…uh, we’ll give them nukes for, uh, peaceful purposes. And, uh, uh, the Chinese will get, because, uh, I won and you should shut up.

He would make all women wear burkhas, including his wife, so it doesn’t sound that much worse.
In my neighborhood you can be arrested asking…. “How much is a Chinese Hummer?”

Going to be real hard …uh… I mean … difficult going to the Hummer dealership… (pimps)
I disagree, the brand isn’t exactly over. It will still have a small market of rap stars, tin pot dictators, drug lords, and limo companies. Of course these will not be able to sustain the market, so its biggest share will probably be the Chinese military. I also expect new humvees going to the US military to start having quality control problems. I’m sure that will just be a coincidence.
Uh…I think it would be Hummew. I used to sell cars years ago (Acura) and we had many Asian customers. Those of whom English was their second language had a hard time with the RS and and LS model names.
They’d ask for either an Integwa EW S or AW S.
I would end up asking do you want the one with ewectric windows and aiw conditioning? Oh and those Asian boys have a thing for American Girls….I’d have to shoo them off with a broom!

At least thats what the Main Stream Media calls us “Whities” now!
The name won’t be changed from “Hummer” to “Hummel” – however, moving forward we will immediately change the pronunciation of the letter “R” to sound like the letter “L”, so that we do not insult or discriminate against our Asian friends, both here and abroad. As part of this bold initiative, Barack Hussein Obama will launch a tour to Asian countries where he will explain the change and apologize on behalf of all English speaking people, and in particular Americans, for our arrogance and racism for creating such a pronunciation in the first place, without first investigating whether it would create an unnecessary difficulty for Asians.
No, it would still be Hummer. Now if Korea bought it, it would be Hummel (Korean is pretty much the opposite of most Asian languages…there’s an L sound but no R sound). 😛
Hopefully AM General, a subsidiary of GM, doesn’t go to China. I can only envision the chaos when the Chinese start driving their civvie Hummers around with Avenger Missle Systems.
I think it would be pronounced Humma, as in…..”Hey GI you want buy Humma? It numba one caa! It onry two year ode, an onry driven by rittle ‘ol rady from Beijing.
Actually, if you are talking about BeijingERs, they would defininitely be able to call it a “HummER”, since it is a favorite habit of people from that area to add the “R” sound to everything. People from the rest of China like to make fun of it.
“Zou hou-mer” means “going through the back door,” a phrase often used to describe official corruption. Now, that word “hou-mer” almost sounds like Hummer. Or, they could call it “he mer” (“he” in pinyin is still pronounced “huh” as in Hummer) which could possibly mean “the Gate of Peace.” There is no end to the mischief you could make with this.

A “Chinese Hummer” ….hum… uh … kind of makes you think about a “HAPPY ENDING”!

Speaking of that… “Please, Mistah Hallis! Lip my stocking!” Oh wait, that was Tokyo.
Hummer will now be know as over priced cheaply made junk that breaks all the time.

You racist cracker!
Whoa! Whoa!
If you’re gonna bust out the “c” word, as least have the decency to say “cracka”. It’s less offensive.

I’m guessing their waranty program will bring a whole new meaning to ‘luv u long time’.
I thought the c word was the one we used to describe Nancy Pelosi.

A Chinese Hummer? This deal was brokered by Bill Clinton.
If so, then James Lileks would be compelled to ditch his Honda Element in favor of the Hummel (according to Hugh Hewitt, anyway).
Hopefully AM General, a subsidiary of GM, doesn’t go to China. I can only envision the chaos when the Chinese start driving their civvie Hummers around with Avenger Missle Systems.
Horry Crap!

I know I need to probably shut up but can you just imagine the headlines some day…
Record profits sent to Bangkok for Chinese Hummer
… It just strikes me as funny
Mabe they’re going to make only the miliatary version of the Hummer–for their own future use.
Of course it only runs on leaded fuel.
haha! raugh out roud!
Of course the Chicoms can’t pronounce “L.”
If they could, they could utter the word “Liberty” and then they’d have to deal with it.
Unless the government divests itself of all of GM. I personally will NEVER by GM automobile and I hope all of you will do the same.
No GM products for us here.
I suppose the Cataract is next?
will they have to change the name to “Hummel”?
Bob in Feenicks says: Of course it only runs on leaded fuel.

And it’s thirsty for more 2 hours later.
*Ba-Dump-Bump*
Chummer?
OMG, I totally used the wrong terminology, Harvey. I never should have said that.
You Lacist Clacker.
I meant to say
Lacist Clackel
