  1. I’d give every cent I own to the Republican Party and God’s church if the GOP nominated Calvin Coolidge.

    Speak, old Silent Cal:

We are too prone to overlook another conclusion. Governments do not make ideals, but ideals make governments. This is both historically and logically true. Of course the government can help to sustain ideals and can create institutions through which they can be the better observed, but their source by their very nature is in the people. The people have to bear their own responsibilities. There is no method by which that burden can be shifted to the government. It is not the enactment, but the observance of laws, that creates the character of a nation.

About the Declaration there is a finality that is exceedingly restful. It is often asserted that the world has made a great deal of progress since 1776, that we have had new thoughts and new experiences which have given us a great advance over the people of that day, and that we may therefore very well discard their conclusions for something more modern. But that reasoning can not be applied to this great charter. If all men are created equal, that is final. If they are endowed with inalienable rights, that is final. If governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed, that is final. No advance, no progress can be made beyond these propositions. If anyone wishes to deny their truth or their soundness, the only direction in which he can proceed historically is not forward, but backward toward the time when there was no equality, no rights of the individual, no rule of the people. Those who wish to proceed in that direction can not lay claim to progress. They are reactionary. Their ideas are not more modern, but more ancient, than those of the Revolutionary fathers.

We the citizenry have not earned the title of citizen. It is up to us to earn the rights in our laws, to protect them with every effort imaginable. Have the majority of Americans earned the title of citizen? Hardly.

  2. More wisdom from President Coolidge to encourage us to stay focused through these troubling times:

“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan “press on” has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race” Calvin Coolidge

  3. WOW!!! I never knew any of this stuff! How is it that I missed all this cool stuff about America’s greatest ever President? He was like awesomely awesome! I think he would punch John McCain and Mitt Romney in the face and then do a round-house kick to their nads!!! And then in Romney’s case he would give him a noogie and mess his hair up and stuff!!! That would rock!!! Then he would romance Sarah Palin and Michelle Bachmann at the same time and win the election by billions of votes!!!

  4. Yea, but I still have the chops for babe romancin’! Especially Palin and/or Bachmann! Just let me know what I can do for my country! Republican babes only…I draw the line! Good news for you, Jimmy…Hillary is all yours along with Shultz Waterman!!! Yummy!!!

  5. Better yet, could Vaporlock O’vomit and Shrillary have it out and dismantle each other thereby letting cartoonish Bidin make a laughing stock out of the mule party. Lets be clear, even some demoncrats will finally wake up.

  6. Definitions of vapor lock:

noun: a stoppage in a pipeline caused by gas bubbles (especially a stoppage that develops in hot weather in an internal-combustion engine when fuel in the gas line boils and forms bubbles that block the flow of gasoline to the carburetor)

  7. Since we don’t have anybody else to nominate, sounds like a plan to me. After all if a live president can get us in this much trouble maybe a dead on wouldn’t be so bad. Just don’t bring back anyone to act as first mother. I don’t need someone to tell me what to eat and what Dr. to go to or any thing else, thank you. I’m an adult I get to make decisions all on my own.

  8. Island Girl, Vaporlock is the reason that one should never put Ethanol in an outboard motor! I put it into my Mercury 2 stroke 175 hp once and it does indeed boil out of the injectors and causes a vapor lock and is really hard starting!!! My 200hp Yamaha 4 stroke seemed to run it ok but it’s nasty stuff on watercraft. Mercury says it will void your warranty!!!

I’m still waiting for someone to call me up after reporting for duty… Michelle? Sarah? Phone will ring any second now!!! I can’t wait!!!
