When IMAO.com last went up for sale, thanks to the success of my blog, the URL was far too expensive for me to afford. Still, it makes me feel proud someone dropped a couple grand to catch traffic from people mistyping my blog URL.
My wife is replacing the thermostat. It’s funny because it’s technical and she’s a woman.
I don’t think the Hunger Games has a political slant. It’s just a generic, oppressive government, i.e., the key characteristic of the government in the Hunger Games is that it’s oppressive.

@FormerHostage — best random thought of the day. It’s too bad my debugging experience is much more like yours than Frank’s. It’s like the computer language coughs up hairballs while I’m busy emphatically stating, “no, I gave you the right orders. Stop doing something other than what I told you and get back to work!” (Except, of course, the computer is always right — even when it isn’t doing what I think it should, which is usually a sign that I’ve made the mistaken of writing in a computer language written by crazy people who wouldn’t recognize design-for-intuitiveness even if they were sailors after a long stint at sea and it and only it constituted the whole red-light district.)

Harvey – the comments in that IMAO archive link need some moderating. A couple of your sailor buddies I suspect.
I like debugging my own code where I know what everything is supposed to do and what I can just comment out to simplify things. I dislike debugging other people’s code when it’s more than a few hundred lines of code, and I hate debugging in C when I totally screw up my pointers and segfault the whole f’ing thing.

@Harvey: yes, but a red-light district where all the inhabitants will give you a few hitchhikers. And the red lights are angry and mean and pop up at random intervals with klaxons.
I haven’t done Instagram, but from what I can tell, it’s an app that lets you turn a simple snapshot into what looks like the last known photograph of someone who’s been missing since the Carter administration.

And Donald Sutherland, who plays “President Snow” in the Hunger Games recently spouted out that the government in Hunger Games reminded him of the Republicans and the one-percent. Which illustrates several things:
1 – That people who play make-pretend for a living should probably not try to pass themselves off as intellectuals.
2 – That people like him should figure out what the one-percent means, because he and many of his friends are probably in it.
3 – That actors are so ignorant that they don’t even know what party’s in charge of the government or how the branches work, and believe Republicans have some mythical power to make things happen while in the minority.
and, 4 – that Donald Sutherland is an a-hole.

So, apparently FoxNews has now hired Jesse Jackson’s daughter as an on-air “expert.” Can anyone now name three on-air Fox personalities, other than Sean Hannity, that aren’t liberal?
There are no “bugs.” There are only mistakes.
The question is, are you fixing your own mistakes or someone else’s?

@Jimmy: since it’s almost 100% my own code, my own mistakes most of the time. That said, sometimes my code has to work around other peoples’ mistakes.
