Ah ha! La Longue Carabine has opened Schrödinger’s door!
1. In quantum mechanics, there is no such thing as an unaffected ‘observer.’
2. The Universe is made up entirely of events between fundamental ‘particles’ whose properties are unknowable between events.
3. Therefore, all ‘measurement’ is inference.
Based on this insight, what is the state of ‘Schrödinger’s Cat?’
[a] The Cat is both alive and dead.
The Cat is neither alive nor dead.
[c] The Cat is either alive or dead.
[d] All of the above.
[e] None of the above.
I hate to say it, but this is another example of mixing science (natural philosophy) and metaphysics (philosophy). Almost everyone would agree it is wrong to criticize science based on philosophy (religion). No philosophy (religion) that tells us the Sun orbits the Earth or the age of the Earth is 6000 years should be allowed to influence the field of science. The problem I keep seeing is when people try to get away with the opposite. Trying to use science to answer or disprove another persons philosophy is just as stupid as the opposite examples I just noted. Does the tree make a sound? This is a question of faith not science and can not be answered using science; regardless of how easy it may seem. In your attempt to use science to answer this important question of philosophy, you have made yourself look like the religious nut who insists his ancestors were great at riding dinosaurs. Since science is so often used to attack conservative philosophy, I would appreciate it if you would avoid contributing to this behavior going forward.
So I’ve been gone. I’m now CarolyntheAuntie. Just saw that I got picked for High Praise! by Keln and I’m also starting to realize that Son of Bob has me almost hoping for 4 more years just so we can have more moments with Joe Biden. Now this post is just bloody brilliant since I’m a science nerd and wish I had thought of it first.
Ah the old the earth is 6,000 years old, all believers are witless rubes who need to be consigned to a home because, obviously, they are too stupid to be allowed out by themselves without a keeper (someone who is more logical and educated than these poor imbeciles).
I, as a believer in a Supreme Being (ie God) do not believe the earth is 6,000 years old. I believe in the 6 creative periods. Do I know how long a year is to God? Do I think that God follows the time period set out by mortal man? Do I know how God created the Earth? Do I know how many other Creations God has made?
When I was a student at a religious university my Physical Science professor, in speaking about the Cosmos pointed out on a slide exactly where our solar system was located. He then asked us, what did we think was the reason we were placed on an insignificant little planet, in an out of the way solar system, so far from the center of the galaxy? Kind of makes one wonder about the hubris of man and say hmmmmmmmmm.

The three laws of thermodynamics summarized:
1. You can’t win.
2. You can’t break even.
3. You can’t get out of the game.
The lefties don’t get it. They’re always trying to break the rules.
A conservative understands, “This is good, this is as it should be and we knew that it would.”
I’ll see your thermodynamics and raise you John Venn

Bob, as Pauli said: “That’s not right – that’s not even wrong!” Plus, you failed to circle your answer.
This only proves Bill Clinton’s hypothesis that Buddhist monks have much more money than one thinks.
The answer of the state of Obama’s dog is… eaten and uneaten. (he put the leftovers in the fridge)

Doesn’t IMAO have rules against analyzing humor?

Answer: There is no cat.
Jimmy:
And if you want to bring way-out-there quantum stuff, then the rules change.
We can get out of the game by going through the 8th dimension.
