The saddest thing is that we cannot count on the SCOTUS to strike down this flagrant attempt to curb Second Amendment rights as a flagrant attempt to curb Second Amendment rights. Gutless b@stards.
Hmmm. Such vision! How about just violence tax. Tax everyone, say 20% of everything they earn to pay for any potential violence that may occur in society? Brilliant! Tax people for future possibilities! Works even better than just spending their future money for them!
Seattle is planning to hit all weapons and ammo with a “gun violence tax”.
Or, put another way, Seattle is going to spend some significant money to defend itself in a lawsuit alleging (correctly, in my opinion) that it is infringing the right of the people to keep and bear arms by imposing a “gun violence tax” on all weapons and ammo.
Brilliant! Like Al Capone all the thugs, gangstas and drug dealers will be locked away for tax evasion. Plus the new tax tax will pay for the ordinary tax avoiders dastardliness.
@ Iowa Jim: and not only that, Washington has full State preemption of local gun control laws – – this thinly disguised gun control measure is void from the get go.
@ Jimmy: I’m thinking about asking to have my birth certificate changed to just read “State of Washington” instead of “Seattle”.
@13 Mark: And I forgot the “tree-huggers, idiot drivers, ‘Amazonians’ (Seattle is being referred to as “Amazonia” by Amazon-haters), liberal Starbuckians, oil-based-kayak-oil-protesters, and pony-tail-mail-lawyers.”
Would that include paper tigers? 😀
How about hitting the people doing the gun violence with…a bullet?
Clearly, defending yourself with a gun constitutes “gun violence.”
I’m embarrassed to admit I was born there.
Coming soon, a gun free zone the size of Seattle.
I’m sure they’re already spending (pocketing) the “estimated” 500,000 in revenue.

Do you get a rebate if you use the ammunition for self defense?

Hey, defending yourself costs extra!
On the other hand, moving away from Seattle pays you back. Seattle is becoming unlivable.
Bicyclists, Prius drivers, pot heads, druggies, hippies, vagrants, gangs, drive-by’s, foreign mafia…
…and a homosexual mayor who has “Idiot” written across his forehead.

And that’s just the City Council. 🙂
