7. Tom Paxton, who is, as far as I’m concerned, the best songwriter we’ve had for the past fifty-plus years, is eighty years old today (born in Chicago in 1937). I find his politics reprehensible, but the man can write songs. Here’s one about Jimmy Carter’s encounter with a rabbit.
