Maybe they think government is like blowing up a balloon; if you try to pump too much air in it, it breaks. Maybe they want to pop the balloon.
I doubt it since the balloon is their god. Perhaps they have a better feel for the way things work in Washington and the lag involved. Clinton passed NAFTA, but W. Bush got the blame for loss of textile jobs. They think the government will get more power, but it will take a few years for it to fully take effect. They’re hoping to be in power by the time that happens (plus the Obama-era holdovers in the “deep state” will get the power now to an extent).
(And I think I recognize that man on the left of Pelosi as a NC Congressman.)

What is scary is that the most likely reason for them to do this is that, once back in power, they don’t expect to ever be out of it. Ever again.
