Since the “expert” says the cloth came from Central Asia, Persia or China where you would certainly find Muslims it is not out of the realm of possibility that Vikings could have picked up this stuff as trade goods and used it without knowing what the scripted embroidery supposedly says in Arabic. My greater question, looking at the picture, is how they avoided calling the Vikings Nazis as well.
The very best Viking swords, called “Ulfberht” or “Ulfberts”, were made of crucible steel that came from India. Does that mean that the Vikings were Hindus? Not a chance. It’s called trade. You can row a boat from Helsinki to Tehran without going out on the big open ocean. The Norsemen built an empire that ran from Norway to the Caspian Sea. Tons of goods went back and forth. This “conclusion” is one of the dumbest I’ve ever heard.
