Gene Kelly was a better dancer than Astaire….or am I thinking of Michael Jackson?
Kelly was a different kind of dancer from Astaire. Better is impossible to determine. Jackson is just a crotch grabber.
I had a film professor who spent a lot of time explaining that Astaire and Kelly were just two different kinds of dancers, who were aiming for different effects on the audience.
She did the same with Chaplin and Keaton.
I had an English professor who did the same with Shakespeare and the rest of the world. Good courses.
