Babesleaga: An Introduction

It has been mentioned before but this is your official welcome and guide to the Babesleaga of IMAO.

We will present 4 weekly matches between two Characters/Celebrities which you, the gentle viewer, must choose one you prefer. Use any criteria, we won’t care. Well, maybe a little but, it won’t matter a 100 years from now.

We will play a round robin so every one gets a fair chance against everyone else. Whomever has the most head to head wins will be the champion of the group. Ties will go to the winner of the individual’s contest. If that was a tie then it will be overall votes in all the contests. If that is still a tie then shoot me.

Here are our contestants for Group A (Science Fiction Characters)

  1. Seven of Nine — Jeri Ryan — Star Trek Voyager
  2. Wilma Deering — Erin Grey — Buck Rodgers
  3. Zev Bellringer — Xenia Seeberg — LEXX
  4. Andromeda — Lexa Doig — Andromeda
  5. T’Pol — Jolene Blalock — Star Trek Enterprise
  6. Aeryn Sun — Claudia Black — Farscape
  7. Inara Serra — Monica Morena Baccarin — Firefly
  8. Number 6 — Tricia Helfer – Battlestar Galactica

There will be more weeks so don’t despair if a favorite isn’t competing this week. In fact if you wish to offer suggested candidates for later groups feel free to do so. We are only limited by finding enough usable pictures.

So dems da rulez. I would add that it would be nice if you all would refrain from adding any other pictures in the comments. They might be ones I want to use in later contests. And no fair trying to influence the election like you were a russki or something.

A thoughtful viewer spotted my error. He will be dealt with appropriately. Grumble, grumble.

  1. Questions, questions, questions!

Okay, the lowdown. There will be 4 head to head match-ups every Monday. Pictures will be provided for each match-up. No teams, just make a pick of which contestant you like best, for any reason. (Personally I go with who is the best babe but YMMV and you can use any criteria you want.) There will be a vote area in each post. You can see an example in the latest Best Bond post.

This will be a regular feature. Once we get the winner from Group A we will move on to Group B and so on. In the end, when we have all the winners they will be place into a single elimination tournament bracket, just like the NCAA College Basketball tournament. Whether I can do 64 groups may be another matter. 32 seems doable.

I hope that answers your questions. Jump in and enjoy!

  2. I saw an episode of Buck Rogers recently on MeTV and it seems my memory betrayed me. I remember as a kid that Wilma had a more generous chesticological area.

Clearly I was wrong. She was still hot in her tight shiny outfits but my mind must’ve played tricks on me.

  3. If I choose Number 6, am I really voting for Aeryn Sun? Is it a trick question?

(and without pics, it is all a wild guess because i don’t care enough about science fiction characters to go look them up)

  4. Sorry for the confusion. This is not the contest. Starting Monday and for 6 more weeks each person in the group will be pitted against another until everyone has competed against everyone else. Come on back on Monday morning at 10:00am and the first contest will be posted then, at 2:00pm, 6:00pm and the last one at 8:00pm. Voting remains open for all contest until Sunday morning at 9;00am. If you use the category search for “Babesleaga” and it will filter for just the actual contests.

  5. I will try again.

The section you are reading here is just to introduce the tournament, its first group contestants and format.

Every Monday there will be 4 Head to Head Matches. This will start on March 2, 2020 at 10:00am with the first match. Matches will then be presented at 2:00pm, 6:00pm and the last one for the week at 8:00pm.

If you do a category search for “Babesleaga”, once they start, you can more readily access them.

The polls for each match, where you choose which of the contestants you prefer (vote for), will remain available (for the first one) until Sunday morning March 8 at 9:00am. Following weeks will follow the same pattern of Monday matches, Sunday Polls close.

Winners of the individual matches will be announce the following Monday morning and then the next set of Head to Head matches will begin again starting at 10:00am. At this time I will present the pictures of the contestants. Each week will show a different picture.

Once everyone has matched up at least once against all the other contestants in the group a winner for the group will be announced. This winner will then be available for the final elimination tournament held later this year.

There will thus be 7 weeks of matches. (I may go to shorter poll openings depending on if I can put this together more quickly or not.)

You don’t have to stick with only one candidate. You don’t have to vote in every match. All that is up to you, the voter.

If you have watched World Cup Soccer you may have seen the format in action. Multiple groups have teams compete within the groups to see who advances to the final knock out part of the tournament.

  6. Okay not voting yet, so some suggestions for future contestants:
Cora Peterson – Raquel Welch – Fantastic Voyage
Nova – Linda Harrison – Planet of the Apes
Kirsten Clark – Emma Ishta – Stitchers
Jo Lupo – Erica Cerra – Eureka

  7. So will there be other categories, such as TV Cops, Doctors, ‘Tool Time’ girls, etc.? Or are these too mundane compared to the SciFi angle? Could even include wrestling, vocalists (or maybe limit it to just female guitarists) or all the Two and a Half Men sluts…

    • All groupings are open for consideration. Thanks for your suggestions. SciFi was just an easy starting point for me. The problem ultimately becomes too many to do! I may have to reconsider how long polls are open and running more than one group of matches a week.
