Upcoming 1776 Revival to Feature Entirely Female, Nonbinary, Trans, Genderqueer Company
Theater Mania | April 16, 2020 | David Gordon

American Repertory Theatre has announced casting for its upcoming production of Sherman Edwards and Peter Stone’s 1776, directed by Diane Paulus and choreographed by Jeffrey L. Page. The entire multiracial company is made up of artists who identify as female, genderqueer, nonbinary, or trans.

Don’t we hold certain truths to be self-evident?

The song “It Plays the Violin” will leave the audience confused.

  1. I find it interesting that — on my computer, at least — one of the suggested “Related” links is to a January 30th post about a possible female Willy Wonka, called “Auugh! Please, Please Make It Stop!”

Now, none of the words (except perhaps “casting”) in these two posts are identical — only the concepts.

So, either there were humans tagging both posts in similar terms that made them match up, or else the Artificial Intelligence algorithms are getting scarily analytical, aware of relationships, and efficient.

If Artificial Intelligence is getting more sophisticated at recognizing meanings and implications, maybe we should too.

      • Well, that’s what I mean: is my browser using humans who recognize similarities in the two posts, or are there machines who don’t only parse words (because the words aren’t at all similar in the two posts) but can parse meanings — i.e., women playing men’s roles, though not stated in the same words in the two different posts?

Just look at my original post above. Where is the word “woman” or “man” used? Yet it links to a post about Willy Wonka being played by a female. If “female” were the trigger, a lot of other posts would have popped up. Babesleaga ones, for instance. It’s the concept it homed in on, somehow.

  2. I’m not displeased. I would love for the perpetually offended and oppressed to start invading and taking over concepts that only we retrograde whites have owned in the past — liberty, personal freedom matched with personal responsibility, distrust of centralized government power.

If they rewrite the play to fit their sensibilities, that’s bad. But minority generfluid persons playing Jefferson and Washington might inspire similar folks to consider some of those ideas.

Dare I suggest that a trans globalist could turn into something much better — a trans american? I’d much rather see a bunch of Trans Ams.
