Belinda Carlyle did a disco-ish cover. But she did not make it any more sensible.
Yeah, but how many times did someone try to talk you into having sex by using a “Band of Gold” scenario—if you neither one of you had had sex before you got married, how would you learn?
Oh, how “Hitchin a Ride” must have tormented grade school music teachers. Finally, a popular song featuring the recorder – but it endorses hitchhiking.
Norman Greenbaum was Jewish and had no Idea who Jesus is, but the Jesus movement was a big deal just then, and he figured throwing a line in about Him would be good for record sales.
And feeling old is when oldies stations are playing music your kids listened to in high school.

First of all, a female talking me into sex would require little more than “hello” – or possibly slightly less.
Secondly, inexperienced though she was (and, presumably, remains), the lady in the song obviously had some level of expectation.
