Straight Line of the Day: Why Is Janet Yellen?

‘Liberal Logic’ And Other Things That Don’t Exist
Townhall.com | May 12, 2022 | Derek Hunter

Democrats are insane. We know this, they can’t hide it. They’re also evil. They used to hide this, but can’t or won’t anymore. Whatever the case, the curtain has been pulled back. But unlike the Wizard in the Wizard of Oz, Democrats aren’t even bothering to try to close the curtain, they’re quite proud of it. Good for them, I guess, but better for the rest of us – we can see these people for who and what they are. It ain’t pretty.

The Treasury Secretary, former chair of the Federal Reserve (and someone I assume identifies as a woman, though you wouldn’t know it by the voice) Janet Yellen, testified in Congress this week and the subject of abortion came up. If you’re wondering why the Treasury Secretary was asked about abortion you are not alone. You also haven’t been paying attention.

Friday Classic Funny

“Hi Mr. Walrus, just came down from research and there wasn’t any Classic Funny to pick up. Is something wrong?”

“No Miss Munro, nothing wrong. We are ending the Friday Classic Funny.”

“Oh dear, won’t the natives get restless?”

“Probably, but let the Emu take care of that. What we are announcing today is a new Friday feature.”

“Oh Goody!”

“Yes. Next Friday we will begin our Movie Throwdown where we will force our people to choose between 2 movies until there is only One!”

“The Highlander?”

“Maybe, maybe not but we are going to find out!”

“I can’t wait!”

“Neither can I.”

Joe Biden Loses It, Screams At Electricians Over Food Shortages, Gives Trump An Amazing New Nickname redvoicemedia.com | 5/12/2022 | Zack Budryk

Yelling at the Brotherhood of Electrical Workers’ International Convention, Biden attempted to place all the blame on the shoulders of both former President Donald Trump and his followers, which the President deemed the MAGA crowd.

Office

We promised Walrus his office would be just as he left it when he gets back.

We did have to take a peek inside that file cabinet, though.

ACLU Admits in Testimony That It Wrote Amber Heard’s Op-Ed Against Johnny Depp; Timed Release With ‘Aquaman’
bizpacreview | 4/29/22 | Terresa Monroe-Hamilton

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) revealed in testimony during the Johnny Depp and Amber Heard $100 million defamation trial that it had ghost-written the Washington Post op-ed allegedly accusing Depp of domestic abuse, reportedly timing it for the release of “Aquaman” in which she played a role.

The ACLU also stated that Heard had only donated $1.3 million to their coffers after promising in 2016 to fork over $3.5 million from her divorce settlement with Depp, stating that the actress was having financial difficulties.

Things To Come

It’s not just the oh-I’m-shocked at the “Step 2: Now You Need To Ditch Your Electric Vehicle” angle.

Note the last five words in the excerpt. It seems that ol’ Hazel Southwell has gotten a memo going around on what the next environmental scam is that scientists will harp on, and government will step in and stomp on. And of course regulate and tax out of affordability, for the children and for social justice.

Norway Wants People To Park Their EVs and Ride the Bus
thedrive.com | May 5, 2022 | Hazel Southwell

Norway has been incredibly successful at introducing electric vehicles. In 2021, nearly two-thirds of all new vehicle purchases there were EVs, and combustion sales there are set to end just three years from now in 2025. But there’s a new problem for the Scandinavian nation: it needs people to stop driving their EVs so much and get on buses and trains.

Electric vehicles, as people who don’t necessarily have purely environmental interests at heart are keen to point out, don’t totally negate the downsides of, well, vehicles. An electric car is still a car that takes up space on roads, has manufacturing and maintenance costs, and requires energy to move it around, which has to come from somewhere. In Norway, the grid energy is pretty darned clean (92 percent comes from hydroelectric generation, the rest from a mix of wind and thermal renewables) but any car still creates emissions, like upcoming pollutant bombshell tire particulates.

Air-Conditioning Should Be a Human Right in the Climate Crisis
Scientific American | May 10, 2022 | Rose M. Mutiso, Morgan D. Bazilian, Jacob Kincer, Brooke Bowser

As the world heats up, billions of people need air-conditioning. This 120-year-old technology used to be considered a luxury, but in the age of climate change, it is a necessity for human survival. Understandably, this has created anxiety over the climate threat of a world overrun with ACs. But the coming boom in air-conditioning is an essential shift toward reducing the enormous gap in cooling availability that exists between rich and poor people and nations—and toward producing a more equitable world.
