  1. I had to watch it again to understand that the shoes were her first gift for him. Not the repair of his shoes as her first gift.

I was confused because if repairing the shoes was her first gift then they have a low opinion of their children.

  2. Thanks, Harvey. A thing of grace and beauty in a culture that has largely forgotten how to change a flat tire.

I own 4 pairs of dress shoes, all between 7 and 15 years old. And all on their 2nd to 4th set of soles, still comfy and classy as the day I bought ’em.

    Keep it coming, please.

  3. Oh, and speaking of flat tires, one of my co-workers has a nice new Hyundai – gorgeous little car = and had a flat not long ago. She hopped out to change it herself, being the independent American girl she is, and found that it has no spare! Has it come to this, that our international trading partners consider us that helpless and we’ll just call AAA anyway?
