A church in Virginia that George Washington used to attend has removed a memorial plaque to the first President, saying it makes “some in our presence feel unsafe or unwelcome“.
Meanwhile, the unfaded square of paint on the wall comforts us by saying “offend us and we’ll disappear you”.
It is getting to the point where it might be easier if they provide us a list of what monuments they are willing to live with.
