3. I like 1940s hard boiled detective movies, books, radio shows so this movie was right in my wheelhouse. However unlike all the cool kids, I DO like the theatrical release with the voice-over. Maybe it reminds me of the detectives in the old radio shows.

   I also read the book that this was based on and Phillip K Dick was a loony.

   • I liked both the book and the movie of “The Big Sleep,” and this tidbit from Wikipedia:

     The Big Sleep is known for its convoluted plot. During filming, allegedly neither the director nor the screenwriters knew whether chauffeur Owen Taylor was murdered or had killed himself. They sent a cable to Chandler, who told a friend in a later letter: “They sent me a wire … asking me, and dammit I didn’t know either.”
